Given that many here were quoted various prices for water pump replacement, im presuming that the repair was not "free" or covered for them under Lexus powertrain warranty. Perhaps the owners did not know it was covered, or perhaps the Lexus dealership conveniently failed to mention that it might be covered under the powertrain extended warranty terms following the recall.

Can anybody else here respond whether their cars water pump was covered under warranty with Lexus and what mileage your car had at time of repair.

Im going in for valve spring recall in the upcoming weeks and am wanting to have them address this if its found to be leaking. With more examples of others who have been covered under powertrain warranty, I can then speak with confidence when talking with the dealership.

It would also be helpful to know whether this repair would be covered under the CPO warranty. I see no reason why it wouldn't, unless it was classified as a "wear" item, but that seems unlikely. My car is a 2006 GS430 CPO currently with 66,000 miles and coverage up to April 2015 or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. I'll ask the dealer about this at my next oil change and will let everyone know what they say.

Wow $930 to replace the water pump is crazy. Its fairly easy if you know how to work on cars.

Quick tip, on the water pump pulley undo the bolts while the serpentine belt is on. This way you will not need a clamp tool. Make sure to blue loctite all your bolts.

That's a rip off.
The book states 2 hour labor.

Can't you just get it repaired under warranty? Given that the drivetrain warranty was extended to 100k due to the valvespring recall, this would now be covered.

Are you over 100k, or did your car not get this added coverage.

Had my car checked out by lexus today for this problem. They said I had air pocket in coolant system which was caused by the last visit for car being serviced for cam gear replacement.

Can anyone with the FSM please provide the bolt torque specs for the entire job? water pump assembly, tensioner, and pulleys? I tried searching but don't see any info on the forums and I don't have the factory service manual. Thanks everyone.

Do the A/C line(s) have to come off to get the pump out? I plan to do this very soon and was wondering if I needed A/C stuff to dry the system and recharge?
