Lexus body painting specs (repairs, not factory)
My search for this was unsuccessful. Completely new to Lex.
Can folks tell me what the Lexus prescribed protocol is for post-factory painting?
Guessing primer and 2 to 3 three base coats plus (how many) clear coats? I'm thinking of repainting the rear bumper cover, maybe getting a trim kit, and repainting the hood if the bumper cover turns out good.
My '07 GS is black.

aftermarket paint job will never be the same as OEM factory....
The measurement machine at body shops auto calculate the amount of primer, base and clear coat a car needs and the spray will adjust accordingly as he/she paints.

aftermarket paint can be as good but you will need to good shop plus some buffing to get it nice and shiney..
if they use the right products you will be fine. what color is this, if it is the tri coats, it is hard to get just right, but ti is not impossible.

Agreed but any car that needs paint gets it sprayed on. I'm not familiar with the measuring machine you refer to. Does it actually measure output of the spray gun in process? If so I am impressed but doubt that most shops around here use it.
I'm plan to use an HVLP or similar gun and see what results I get.
@Lextrician - My car is black (not sure if there is more than one black for the '07 GS).
