I'm 22 and I just got my GS460 all on my own, that is how I have purchased all of my cars. Before I had a license my dad told me "no one bought me a car, so buy your own damn car!" (not saying ANYTHING about getting some help, trust me, I would totally have welcomed help from my parents when I was younger) So I worked from the day I turned 15 to start saving for my first car... A beige 2001 ES300... Loved that car... Have owned four Lexus vehicles since, probably will drive Lexus for the rest of my life.

Wow! You guys sure are young to own such nice cars. People went crazy when I had my SC300 at 19, but a GS as a teenager would have been insane.

I was considering buying a GS350, but ended up getting an LS430 instead.

LOL...

I had a NSX when I was 23. And yes, I had parents that gave me money for a car.

I can't really talk smack about parents helping out on buying a kid's car. My parents also helped me get my first car...

... except it was a 1981 Corolla (in 1995) and costed $800.

I didn't finance it. Straight cash, homie!

jre002,

Disappointed it wasn't a Lexus.

I would never buy a Lexus at the young age......would have saved and invested the difference.

You couldn't tell me it wasn't just as good back then! I thought I was the man. Rigged a 12 inch sub in there with an old house stereo speaker in a homemade bazooka tube, and two 6x9's in the rear deck - all wired into the same 2 channel amp. Bridged the amp and cranked it up to the max. Wires hanging everywhere. lol. Put some 4 star old school butterfly rims on it too. Don't forget the chrome double windshield wiper blades to finish it off!

Man, I was an idiot.

35 y/o. Got my '09 GS350 two years ago at age 33. Got a great deal on it in 2010 and will be paying it off in 3 months.
Damn I thought I was young when I got my GS, but you guys make me feel like I'm two years from the old folks' home. Hell, I got stared at a lot when I drove mine around, so I can only imagine how many people were breaking their necks to see who that young kid was driving a Lex around.
Not to pry or be condescending, but I hope noone here is overextending themselves financially just to drive a nice car around. I read a couple comments on this thread that seemed to imply that the car note is eating a large portion of the monthly budget. Best of luck all.

There is a kid on here with a new 4 Gen gs an he is only 19, just don't understand what you are teaching your kids people.
I agree with it to a certain extent. If you are a multimillionaire, then obviously a 50k car doesn't mean anything to you. But if you are working double-shifts or stretching the finances whatsoever to pay for your kid's luxury car there is a problem. I don't have kids yet, but if I did I could easily buy them a new GS... but would I? Hell no. No free lunch from me. I'd get them something safe and in good working condition. No bling.

My dad matched why I saved for my first car, I had just under 4k of y own money of working since I was around 12-13 so I got a descent car that he picked out... But I have always bought everything from there on out and I'm 26 now, been in the military for 7 years and I had an older guy ask if I was driving my daddy's truck when I was fuelling up on wife's 4runner and I just said no sir.

Unfortunately people get frustrated when younger people have nicer things than them. But I do see that way too many people over extend themselves to try and keep up with the jones's. anyways y'all have some nice cars and ill have one here soon

I'm 23 and just bought my GS450h.

Got it all by myself. Heck, I didn't even tell my parents that i'd gotten a new car till I showed up at their houses a week later.

Feels great to have this car!

I've had my 06 gs430 for over 4 years now. Bought it when i was 25 and it had 23K miles. 106K miles later…. I love my car and very happy I picked this over a g35 or 350 or something along those lines. I like the fact I drive a bigger, classy car rather than some loud flashy car. I like the fact its super quiet but when you stomp on it it has a nice rumble. A big thing is that cops don’t bother me, due to the fact its something an older boring person would drive…ha ha ha. Little do they know I have my Valentine 1 and $1200 Laser Jammers scouting them out.

Now, since I’m use to driving something bigger and make a little more money. Car few grand from paying off then I will slap some Vossens on her and will continue to use it as my daily. I plan on getting a newer CTS-V Wagon toward the end of the year or a Cherokee with the 5.7. People will really think that’s slow. Bwah ha ha

I'm 21 years old turning 22 in March. My first car was a 2008 Honda Civic Si which my parents paid for when I was 17. Now that I've gotten older I got tired of the Si and wanted to get a GS on my own. My parents told me I shouldn't but hey I saved all the money up on my own, used the Si that they paid for as a trade in and bought my black 2009 GS350 just last month (all paid off). Best decision ever!

I feel so stupid today, so i changed oil and filter for my 06 gs 300, but when i put in the new filter , i did not look carefully to take out the plastic washer from old filer, so when i put in new oil, and start the car, new oil was ripping down from the filter, i was so stupid i did it again, third time i noticed the old washer is still on the new filter that's why it's not seal complete when i put the filter it,

so so so stupid, lol, waste $55 on 2 bottle mobile 5 qts.
