Default Dark trunk, bad light location..my DIY solution!

I find the trunk light in our 3GS too dark, so I decided to do something about it.

First I tried an LED board, this was okay, it definitely brightened the trunk compared to the OEM halogen bulb; but one time we went on a road trip and when the trunk was fairly full, I couldn't find stuff in the back because we had stuff that blocked the light.

I saw XxGoKoUxX's DIY and decided to buy a similar roll of lights. I didn't feel like soldering wires to the lights so I also used some 2 pin adapters.

Here's the result as posted in my instagram (http://instagram.com/alex.soo):

Let me know what you think!

It's very easy, it basically just snaps into place.

Dope mod you've came up with, I noticed that trunk lighting is horrible in our cars but I don't spend that much time in the back to need that much lightning. Cool project tho my man, thumbs up and I'm sure others will hit this up.

Best do it before you need it.

I have a flashlight on me and in the car too. Never know and it sux having to do things in the dark. Making it worse is doing it on the side of the road. Cars passing by and you get blind for a few second til your eyes adjust to the low light again, than another car pass by. So a flash light is a need, never know when you need to change the tire or your alternator is dead.

Thanks! Yeah, most of the time it's not a big deal; now that it's in, I love it!

I'd love to give them some suggestions! I really don't know what the designer was thinking when they placed the light in the corner, it's almost like it was an afterthought.

Here is my after pic.

I left the standard light and attached the LED strip to the switch just in case I ever want to turn it off

Sorry for how dirty my boot is.

so this is hooked up to the existing light switch in the corner?

not just the trunk, the whole car is in need of more lights. The cabin is dim as hell too, and you have to carry around a flashlight to find the damn buttons.
They skimped on the LEDs.
