SRS Light Won't Go Off 2006 GS 430

Take it to someone who has a Techstream subscription (i.e. a Lexus/Toyota dealership or an independent that has the specialized equipment).
I had an SRS light on my car also and took it to an independent mechanic. According to the scan, the mechanic said that I would need a new passenger knee airbag to the tune of $1200 + installation. I'm not quite sure what he did since he was working on it for a couple of hours before he told me of the scan result, but after telling him that I'd think about it, the light has never returned. It's been about a year now and the light has never appeared again.
Either way, get a scan and see what the code says.

BMW was also involved with the Takata scandal, but like Honda, and unlike the rest (MB, Audi, Toyota, etc.), they offered loaner cars for the duration of the parts being unavailable. For me, that means they gave me a loaner for 4.5 months. Others had them for more than 1 year. It was very anticlimactic as the day the part was installed, I brought back the loaner (it was a BMW from Enterprise), they closed out the contract. I glanced down and it said $9,xxx.xx. I said clearly BMW doesn't pay that. The person said yes, they do. Car was done in < 60 min. and they broke something during the job and denied it (nothing new).
In retrospect I didn't need a loaner car. Not one person died in a BMW due to Takata. Hundreds of thousands of dollars wasted providing free loaners. That's why when they offered the same thing on a blower motor replacement (BMW really is stellar in providing cars when owners feel unsafe) where there was a possibility of fire, I didn't take a loaner. I cowboy'd up and drove the car for over a year with the defect. I never burst into flames.
Just didn't feel a loaner was necessary. You don't always just take something because. Like when my 5 y.o. sustained a broken leg this week, our friends were quite surprised we didn't sue the other parents. I find that odd. Maybe I'm older and don't think that way. When we were kids, we played rough. I flipped a shuffleboard disc and broke another kids nose and thought it was funny back then. Times were different, that happens today and people better have riders on their homeowners I guess.
The point is, having disabled airbags, disabled ABS, isn't the end of the world. There are cars in existence which have neither. And, one will not fail any safety inspection as a result. The end.
