CPO With Two Different Brands of Tires
Let me start by saying that I am glad to be back here after 7 years over at AcuraZine!
I just purchased a CPO 2008 GS 350 from a SoCal Lexus dealer. The car is fantastic and I feel like I got a great deal. The car has Michelin Pilot's on the front and brand new Fuzion UHP's on the rear. Before purchasing the car I brought the issue up of the mismatched tires and was told that the only CPO requirement was at least 5/32" of tread. I purchased the car but I now have more info.
The owners manual states not to use mismatched tire brands as it could cause ABS and/or VSC issues. My question. Is this a Lexus CPO issue or can a CPO have mismatched tires? On page 4 of the CPO inspection sheet under the tire section there is a check for "Proper size, type, and match". I didn't actually receive the checklist for the car purchased but the salesman said he would fax me a copy as I should have received it.
Anybody have any thoughts on this? And yes I know the Fuzion tires wear down quickly and yes I know that the Continental DWS tires are fantastic because I had them on my 05 Acura TL that I traded in!

Thanks for the info as I suspected that it is a requirement.
I brought this up with the salesman today and he said that his manager had offered to replace the front tires but they wanted me to pay the first $200! I declined of course. The salesman said that he didn't know if it was a CPO requirement and couldn't give me a definite answer until Monday. I will give them until then before pushing further.

I would of made them drop the price of the car for that. It doesn't surprise me though. But then again the two Lexus dealerships around me suck. It's sad when BMW is the good dealership..... Hope they resolve this for you. How long did your dsw's last? Mine are not seeming to hold up very well. 12000 miles and starting to not preform well and super noisey, track bad and can't hold a balance. I should say I put 12k on them idk about the P.O. They stil said dsw on them when I got them. Now almost just the d.

They did drop the price of the car because of the tires and that is why they wanted me to pay the first $200 for replacement tires but in my opinion it's meaningless if the car shouldn't have been sold that way.
As for the DWS tires I had just bought them last August and had only put about 6000 miles on them on the TL so I never saw the long term effects.

Hold on a second. There's a 5 page checklist for ALL Lexus CPO's and it's done in duplicate. In the tires section it plainly states that all tires must be the same make, model and size and at least 5/32 of tread depth. They're required to give you matching tires period. Any Lexus service employee that doesn't know this should've been gone already. Somebody just didn't check and hoped you wouldn't notice. That's a big time no no in the eyes of Lexus. They broke policy the second they listed it as CPO.
You can view the 161 point checklist on Lexus.com the same one I use as do all other dealers. Look at Page 4.

I have an appointment tomorrow at the dealer as they are replacing the front tires with new Fuzion's which match what was put on the rear when the car was inspected. I also now have the CPO inspection sheet and apparently the rear tires didn't have 5/32 of tread so I guess they thought that they could get away with just changing the rear tires when they inspected the car.
My sharp eye and persistence I think caught them by surprise and eventually they knew that they were wrong and now are making things right.
Thank you to all that responded.
