Default diminished value claim

After an accident two months ago, I am hoping to file a diminished value claim.

The problem is, I don't know the first thing about how to start one. I can't imagine my insurance company, Amica, will be too eager to help me out.

Who here has done one and can get me on the right foot?

Thanks!

can you share what happened to the car? I can get you an idea of what the car is work in the open market today with an accident and accident free.

Also do all body panels have the vin tag stickers or was a panel replaced.

A lady hit me going 10mph and I was at a stop which cracked the headlights, crumpled the hood, broke the bumper cover and broke all the speed sensor components. The radiator support was bent a bit.

Everything was replaced with new parts but it had no structural damage. The fenders weren't bent and nothing steering related changed.

Safe to say you will see a 3k hit when you trade it in on value. Right now avg book is 22k and you would be looking between 18-19k with an accident report.

You have to file it with the company of the lady that hit you. You need to speak with the claims adjuster that you were dealing with. They are the ones that can help you.

You need to hire a local certified inspector to make your dimished value report. DO NOT buy those reports online because the insurance company will reject them. Those are useless craps. My car was reared end by a semi truck on a highway at 60 mph and the whole rear was damaged badly. Repair ran around $15k with Lexus parts and I filed diminished value with the semi''s insurance, they agreed to pay me extra $4k after I had a report from a certified inspector. It wasn't an easy battle, a lot of phone calls and certified letters.Your damage will run around 3-4k easy.

The lady that hit me was uninsured. I received money from my uninsured motorists coverage.

Imagine that a uninsured driver that is probably still driving.
Your UM coverage should still support a additional diminished value claim. Your State Insurance Dept. may
have web site that will give you some additional detail or recommendations to support your claim.
