Step 1 - Get new fogs
Step 2 - Get new lenses (Sewell has PN# 81221C for the entire light, anyone know a PN# for the lens?)

Well I will pose a question. Please resist the incessant urge to reply, "HID bulbs". If the factory fogs are at the same wattage, why are these running at a higher temperature?

^All I know is the 55w has caused issues in a few members cars including melting the wires. I would assume there are several things that play a role in the temp but I am no light expert. I would contact our vendor XenonDepot and I am sure Steve can explain and also let you know what bulbs will work with out going HID.

From my knowledge, it isn't only about wattage that affects the temperature and how hot things can get. my stab at an explanation is that it's also dependent on amperage. I believe you all are familiar with amperage draws, and how much our alternators can juice out to us. I believe this is the same concept, and even though an x amount of wattage, it's more dependant on amperage also. Hope that helps

P.S. When you get the LENS part #, please let me know, my fog lens aren't warped, but they look horrible. I've done hundreds of headlight restorations, but none of them have the same output as a brand new lens (unless i've done it wrong??)

lol thanks passnu I've done one on a friend's car.... it was a prelude so a much bigger lens (I just need to take my foglights out and stop being lazy to fully do the whole lens), but anyways. It lasted for 2 years up until his accident, then the car wasn't seen again. The trick to KEEP it from happening again is to spray automotive clear coat, wetsand to 2k grits or finer and polish/wax, it lasts FOREVER. But I am not satisfied because it still leaves a "sand/buffed" haze instead of the weathered haze... I can't explain it. But it just irritated me whenever I look at it.

P.S. Sorry OP for going off topic lol

i doubt you can buy just the lense, you'll probably need the whole housing. also 81221C is not the part number. the part numbers for the fogs are 8121130312 for the passenger side and 8122130282 for the drivers side

If the bulbs you purchased are truly rated at the same specs as your stock halogen bulbs then you should not have had any issues. Let me know what you think of the Putco Jet Yellow bulbs once you get them installed in your fogs! I think that you will be quite pleased with the colour output.

Man I have the same set of bulbs sitting in my garage that I was going to put in my high's on my IS. Never got around to it and was going to use for my fogs on GS, x that idea.
