both false

if your just over the 50k warranty, you can still purchase the extended lexus warranty but you they will charge you extra

also there is nothing wrong with 3rd party warranties if you know what you are buying.

A lot of 3rd party warranty companies are run like cash grabbing scams. They use scare tactics to have you buy into one of their plans which are carefully designed around parts of the car that rarely fail. So the majority end up paying $2000 up front for the policy and never have a single claim for the life of the policy, which is relatively short. And when something does fail on your car the sketchy ones refuse to cover it. There's also a lot of fine print as to conditions on a claim so do your home work before buying.

If you do end up with a bad tranny or engine it will pay for itself. But for most, they spend a few grand up front, pay for regular wear and tear out of pocket and 2-3 years later the warranty is over and that money would've been better off put into a rainy day fund.

gsteve : not sure about that one. u might want to call them directly see if you can purchase it. the representative pretty informative & patience, i called them yesterday, the picked up the call pretty quick surprisingly. how many miles u have in ur car btw ? if it less than 100K, i won't worry about warranty, this car built (almost) like a tank...

planning on purchasing a 07 with 27k miles. I am pretty good with cars and know mechanics. I am just worried about the electrical components that only lexus can deal with which might be costly.

27k miles ? boy that's such a baby mileage lol. if i were you, i wouldnt worry about it. is this ur first lexus ? mine is 100K, thats why I bought warranty.

or you can just buy lexus warranty, since the mileage is pretty low. go to any lexus dealer, im pretty sure they're more than happy to help you.

In my case, my 2015 RC F has 32K miles and the in "action" date for 7 year is up this December. I have bought extended warranties for my BMWs (I owned 7 of them and they only started sucking badly in last 15 to 20 years)... new to Lexus but I don't think any extended warranty is going to be worth it for 2 or 3 more years of "peace of mind".
I work from home last 20 years and the car just sits it a garage 99% of it's life. I don't track. So buying one for me isn't worth it based on the brand value and build quality that I have experienced so far with Lexus.

I might be eating my words in 3 years if I loose a tranny or Servo, but only time will tell. I already had the high pressure fuel pump fixed. damn that was loud and annoying.

Now I realize it would be an unusual situation, but I read replacing the CF roof was 15G.

...and posts #13 and #14 are so relevant to 3rd Gen GS's (2006-2011) from an original post from 2012. Are there Mod's who can lock this post? Thank you.
