I currently have a 7 days in transit permit (Canada) which means I don't have a liscence plate at all, but before I get it drilled (non fixable) I'm thinking about another option that doesn't need drilling

the options i looked at were:
1) tie strap plate to front grill (cheesy looking to me)
2) using front tow hook licence plate holder (didn't like the idea of the plate being sideways)
3) retractable front license plate holder (imho, only way to mount it would be under the front bumper/lip which again looks cheesy to me, unless you are willing to cut into the lower grill - which i refuse to do).
4) drill 2 small holes underneath the front bumper and mount L shaped brackets to hold the licence plate (not an option for me, as i don't want any holes whatsoever)

i might have considered going with the below option had i know about it before, but i'm ok with my current choice now. not sure if the below front plate holder option will work for you, so you may wish to do some research by contacting the manufacturer/vendor.

edit: looks like there is an app for the GS450h...you maybe in luck!

Thanks Stormforge, you have really been a great help! I see you all over the forum.

I am considering the under bumper retractable option or the Skene. I really like the idea of being able to push the plate out of the way for car washes, but I still can't picture how it would look like sitting so low on the bumper. I guess I'll get a random plate and see how it looks on the GS.

no problem, glad to help out!

something you need to consider: do you plan on lowering your GSh via lowering springs, coilovers, or air suspension? if you have future plans on lowering your vehicle, using the under bumper retractable plate option may be dicey. if you scrape against a speed bump, incline or whatever, you might (or might not) lose your plate/plateholder in the process (one reason why i opted out of this option).

speaking from experience - i'm lowered on mild lowering springs - and i have already scraped my lower front lip several times. i can't think what would happen if i had the under bumper retractable plate holder there!

imho, the skene option is probably your best bet if you plan on lowering your GSh. if you don't plan on doing lowering modifications, then the under bumper retractable option should be OK. 2 cents

Put in the bumper plugs, actually doesnt look half bad. Scary cause I had to drill bigger holes to fit it.

@Stormforge

I will be keeping my GSh fully stock. I might just add the Vaistech ML+ for the iPod integration, btw do you think they are worth the money? or should I just go with something cheaper from Vaistech? (Sorry, I'm not trying to hijack this thread)

And I think I am going to order the under bumper retractable plate holders, I think it's pretty cool and it actually doesn't look too bad as far as I can tell by holding the plate up to that location. One thing I noticed is that it blocks the air flow, should I worry about that? or would it be fine since it's not blocking the whole thing?

Thanks so much, I am really in love with the GS

I had the Vais ML+ on my previous GS, and imo its totally worth the $500. The integration is very clean, and the latest update allowed me to control pandora from the screen also. Not to mention the video playback. Very cool.

Don't know if its been mentioned .. But what I did on my previous car was grabbed some nylon plugs from the hardware store. Used my touched up paint to color match n plugged em in . $10 max if you don't have the touch up paint
