Used keyless remote question
I found a keyless remote on EBay that was advertised as "new". The seller had 100% feedback so I felt comfortable buying from him. The remote came today and the key has been cut,so I'm assuming it's not new and has been programmed to a different car. Will the dealership be able to program the remote if it's already been programmed for another car? The FCC ID and IC numbers on the back of both remotes are the same by the way.

Get back to us after you visit your dealer -- from what I've read on this site, there is a possibility it could work, but I haven't searched enough to find a post from someone that it has...

I didn't get to the dealer until 4:30 and the guy who does it had already left for the day. An old friend of mine is the Service Manager and said to come back on Monday and he would get it done for me for no charge. He said they normally get a half hour labor to do it.

Well, I just got back from the Lexus dealership. For some reason, the used remote was not able to be programmed. The tech who was trying to program it, said he never tried programming a used remote, so he thinks that's why it's not working. He has only programmed brand new remotes, so maybe he's doing something wrong? Can someone confirm 100% if it should definitely be able to be done?

i had the same thing today. went to toyota to get it programmed cheaper and the tech said i would have to take it to lexus. they have to wipe the remotes clean, and maybe the car, and start from scratch.

I found a seller on EBay that sells used remotes with a blank key. I asked him if his remotes can definitely be programmed by Lexus and he said yes. He said the key to getting them programmed, is to make sure the remote has been "flushed" from the previous code. All of his remotes have been flushed and are basically just like a brand new remote. I think I am going to give it a shot for $60.

I think the key to getting them reprogrammed is definitely flushing the old code out first. Maybe the dealership I took mine to A. Doesn't know how to flush out the old code, or B. Their machine doesn't have the option to do a flush?
My friend is the Service Manager there, so I know if it could be done there, he would have gotten it done for me.
