3GS front tweeters & center speaker removal
As told by another member on here, I was told to use a credit card, or a card of some form to pull up my tweeters and center speaker's bezel. I did this because i have a full aftermarket system and wanted to replace the factory speakers before i blow them after installation of an aftermarket amplifier.
*WARNING* Your tweeter's wires still must be plugged up in order for your door speakers to work correctly. To do this you only solder OR cut the wires off and connect them together. If there is any confusion here please let me know and i'd be more than glad to take more pictures.
PS. You do NOT have to remove your a-pillars to open the left and right tweeter cover. they come right off just like that.
Let us start. (I'll only demonstrate the center speaker, since the left and right is repetetive, and on the center speaker it's a much roomier location to do this.
Start wedging a card (plastic or metal, anything but paper, also NOT a screwdriver as you'll damage your leather/speaker bezel) in there from the corner....
After you got the edge in there, slide the rest of the card in there.
Now you PRY!
You can now take it out by hand.
As you can see, it's just tabs under there, very STRONG tabs, so it isn't as hard as you would think to remove (I thought it was hard before anyways lol).
Here's how it looks when you pry open the side tweeters.
Here's what it looks like underneath the left/right tweeter cover. it has a hook in the front and the back is the clips. Keep that in mind when you're prying and removing these covers.
VOILA, tweeters are complete, have fun! Dont mind the background. I took these pictures and removed these bezels while I was picking up my baby sister from elementary school lol

Because XxGoKoUxX has a non ML GS I think. There is only one tiny tweeter up at each corner vs. ML has two.
So XxGoKoUxX can you share what are the sizes for all non ML GS speakers? (Dash corners & center, front doors, rear doors and rear tweeters??) Thanks.

You are correct. The ML system has a mid and a tweeter in the front corners and a mid in the center. The non ML system has a tweeter in each corner and a mid in the center. I don't care for either system and that is why I went aftermarket as well. Good tutorial as they are both pretty easy to remove, but they can easily be broken because the tabs are plastic.

I will as soon as i get a chance to memasterac. Front and rear's are 6.5's i believe (door speakers), center is a 3.5 if i'm correct. The tweeters i'm not so sure about, they're approximately teh same size as any standard tweeter, my MB quart tweeters fit in their spot just fine. only thing you have to do is use JB weld or some contact agent to get it to stick together very well.

is there enough room by the tweeter to install a 3" mid?
i'm selling my ls460 and want to transfer the aftermarket system to my next car.
the ls has a tweeter and a mid in the same location where you are only showing a tweeter.
