Damaged Rim
Whats up guys? I hit the edge of my rim last night on a curb I didnt see at all. I have a pretty long curb rash along the edge of the rim. The wheels I have are the 2nd gen f sport full face. Is it possible to repair a rim with the liquid graphite finish like on these rims? Will it match the other 3 wheels or will it look slightly off? In such a bad mood b/c of this

This happens to everyone every so often. You may be able to get a good repair done somewhere. Or, you may get lucky and find one used wheel somewhere. I did a quick Google search and found the folks in the link below. I am sure they aren't the only ones around who do those types of repairs. May be worth a shot. Good luck!

thanks, yah ive did some googling on it too. Im just worried about it matching the other 3 wheels after its refinished. Id rather just buy a new rim than have a mismatched wheel :/

I hear you. In addition to potential mismatch finishes on a repair, the repair cost may be close to the cost of finding a replacement. Have you checked Sewell Parts or another vendor to see how much a replacement would be? With some patience, you may luck out and find one. You should place a willing to buy in the wheels section just to see if you get any hits.

You can sending your rims to these guys http://www.rimguardxtreme.com/contact From the looks of it, they do a pretty good job. I live in SC and they have a shop located in NC and i was going to have them fix my rim. Since it was bent in the inner side slightly from what the dealership told me, which cause the rotors to be replaced on impact. But I just left it as it is because it didn't bother me much, its on the inner side. So i don't have a review of their job.

imho, it is difficult to match the finish. it will come close, but you will see a difference - assuming you have great visual acuity (no matter how good the wheel repair shop is). if color mismatch really yanks your chain, buying a new wheel is the only choice.

Really depends who repairs it 2 friends of mine own Alloy Wheel repair franchise and they do great work matter of fact they were able to polish out fender rash on the stainless lip of my Vossens that I was told by Vossen was unrepairable ( not a shot at Vossen they re a great company I recommend them highly) I have also seem Traffic stars, Works and other custom wheels

Yeah, I hear you. That F-Sport stuff sure is sweet. . . . . but in isn't cheap! I feel your pain. I scuffed up the the right rear rim on my GSh the night before I was going to take them off and list them for sale. I almost shed a tear.

No. I was taking them off anyway. Just wanted them to be clean in order to command the most when trying to sell. I did end up selling them. Just had to bite the bullet and accept less than I originally had planned.

I would try to let one of the fix it guys repair it. Usually costs $100-125 and if you don't like it then try to buy a new wheel but if so $100 is a lot cheaper than $1300.

Did some research today...here are my options
1) new rim from sewell for like $460
2) Called one of the top shops in my area (based on reviews online) to get a quote...they said b/c of the hyper silver paint it would cost 250 to refinish the wheel...and the guarantee it to match the color of the other rims
3) Called up my dealership and he said they have a guy that does rim repairs for them for typically $150 warrantied for a year. He said they have good luck repairing ISF rims which have a similar finish to the 2nd gen Fsport...
I made an appt to go to the dealership so I can talk to the guy in person and see how good it will look after repair.
Thanks for everyones input
