Yeah, it's one of those things that just sticks in my craw.
I see cars on the strret with blacked-out wheels more frequently now. If you're not right up close, it looks like the car has 2 empty holes in the side. There is no enhancement. Nothing to catch the eye. Nothing to reflect light.
The only time it looks even decent is a light colored car with black accents.
What's worse is the thought of spending thousands on wheels and tires for no enhancement.
Black centers with chrome lips provides much more effect. It actually forces the eye to focus in more cause you're trying to see the spokes. With all black, your eyes give up. Like, why even try. I'll never understand it.
Then there's the guys doing it cause it's the latest fad. That's the worse....but I won't go any further with this one.

I share your distaste for black wheels, but Riders are not black - they are dark gray. They remind me of the f-sport wheels, but the full face design is bold. His car looks very fresh - it could almost be a brand new model.

I prefer lips because it's more dramatic and more of a custom look.
No-lip looks more like stock.
But this doesn't bother me like the blacked-out wheel thing.
I might buy a set of no-lip wheels myself...just for a short term change. Very short.
