Need Help - 2006 GS 430 - Drain Plugs Clogged
#16
I was reading another thread about the a/c drainage issue (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...c-drain-2.html) that brought me to this thread.
Question for those of you with more experience than I have with Lexus.....
How or where is the condensate (the water that accumulates on the evaporator) SUPPOSED to drain under normal conditions??
I have a 1990 Mustang LX and the HVAC "box" that contains the blower motor, evaporator, and heater core is bolted to the firewall. From under the hood, one can see a small drainage tube from where the condensate drains....very easy to see.
Is the 3GS also like this (just harder to see b/c of the engine cover?
Surely, it doesn't drain into some compartment under the carpeting in the interior.....although, from what I have read about this TSIB, that's what one would believe....
Does anyone have any pics of the actual drain area?

It drains down through the transmission tunnel under the evaporator when it is not clogged. I believe you need to depressurize to see the spot from within the cab. I got to it using only a screwdriver from underneath. Drying the carpets was the biggest part of the job by far.

This could only happen after te actual drain is clogged. The actual drain has to drain to the exterior of the car.
I'll post a few pics of what I *am* familiar with for comparison. The photos below are of the firewall area of my 1990 Mustang. As you can see, near the top, the a/c lines enter and exit the interior and down below is the drain. Any condensation that forms on the cold evaporator should drain to the exterior through this drain.
This is what I'm wondering if anyone has photographed on the GS350.....anyone?

2008 GS 460 advice on drain problem?
Greetings all -- newbie here -- 45 years of driving experience, mainly Toyota 4x4s and Volvos. Just about to purchase a 2008 GS 460 here in Calgary, Alberta. Local Canadian car, 66,000KM (44,000 miles). Does anyone out there have any experience with this "drain and water" problem with the 3rd gen GS 460 especially in Canada? Conditions here in Calgary are more like Denver ... no high humidity (except in heavy rain periods when we have flooding!), lots more dust and road crap. Advice re: observations / problems / solutions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers / LexLeezard
