Default Front Brake Squeak March 15, 2011 TSB

Took the car in for the fuel pressure sensor campaign and a few other items(oil change & brake fluid flush). While there asked if a fix had been determine for the brake noise issue on the GS'. Was told he'd call me back once he spoke to a tech.

Got a call back saying the fix was to replace the pads, shims, "and rotors". But since my car was off the warranty i'd have to pay the labor($179). I agreed and when I picked the car up the invoice showed they replaced the brake pads and "resurfaced the rotors". Heated I spoke with the service advisor and asked was this noted incorrectly and he stated after checking with the tech a second time he said that was all that was needed.

To make a long story short I spoke with a service manager and he followed up and sent me the tsb below. Now we get to go back and get the rotors installed. Not a lot of confidence that this will fix it but this is better than just replacing brake pads which we did last March 2010 on all 4 wheels.

Below is the recent TSB info he sent me. Anyone seen or hear of this?

Yes. I had this work done on my 07 GS350 AWD. New pads/rotors/shims. I was still under the factory warranty and my car is CPO. Funny thing was, i had to do it twice within cuz after 10 months/12k miles....it squealed again. No money out of pocket.

Is there a TSB number for this? I brought my '09 in for squeaky brakes and the service adviser told me that no TSB applied to my model and issue.

I have a GS 350 AWD and my brakes squeak when I begin to drive and once they heat up it goes away. Would this TSB cover this or not? I'm not sure if this only covers 2WD or both.

i did this a couple months ago. It's not new. I dunno why it's dated 3/15 2011.

I didn't have a terrible squeal. Only once a day while driving reverse.

I wonder why our brakes are especially problematic. This should be the most basic thing in any car.

there's probably a separate TSB for the AWD models.

I got the brake dust TSB done to me 08 3GS ..couple months later, it started to squeal just as your TSB states " only during light braking" it's so annoying.. Is this a new TSB? If so, I'm taking my car right back in once more.

I must have missed this thread previously. I've been having the same problem ... Ridiculous squealing at low speeds. I just emailed my SA to see if it would apply to my car.

Has anyone else had this tsb applied?

I brought my car in to the dealership in May to address my brake squeal problem when the brakes are cold. You might have to bring up this TSB to your service adviser because Initially the service adviser was just going to resurface my rotor, but I brought up this TSB up to him and they did this TSB for me. After getting it done, the brake squeal is gone and so far it hasn't come back yet. Not sure if this is true, but the adviser told me that this TSB uses new redesigned rotors or pads (I don't remember what he said) and that it probably shouldn't squeal for a long time.

My car is a 2007 RWD btw.

I'm getting this done next week. I'm still under warranty, but without it, my SA says it would cost about $850.

i'm thinking about purchasing ebc green brake pads for the rear where my mothers GS350awd makes the noise.. from reading the forum and online it seems even after people get the tsb done, it begins to squeal later on.. anybody other than benbuilt4u try other pads?

No noise here 6 weeks after TSB. Brake dust is almost zero too.

I just picked up a 07 gs450h and I have the orrendous squeak. Does anyone know if aftermarket rotors for regular 3GS fit the hybrid? Thanks

Edwin
