I recently purchased the 10" jlw7 and an alpine mrp1000.. i like that tight responsive bass as well.. any advice as far as a box, dynomat, and other materials go? JL audios says a 1.25 cubic foot box would maximize this subs performance

honestly you are gunna have some rattles... dynamat the entire trunk and make sure you take of the back panel where the license plate is and gas lid door and dynamat that. im personally having the subs fire into the cabin of the car so that will alleviate most of the trunk rattles. you let yall know once i get the car back if that helps.

BTW w7 is serious power!!... good luck

in 2 weeks I'm taking my baby in for a show trunk with JL Audio 12W6Vs, JL Audio 750/1, JL Audio 600/4, Hertz 3 way components up front, Hertz 3.5 mid in center channel for 5.1 DVD's, Stinger 10 Fared cap, Audio Control EQS, JL Audio 1/0 wiring to 4 gauge wiring. Black carbon fiber vinyl, red carbon fiber vinyl. clear plexi, red LED's. woofer firing straight up and firing through the port in the rear deck. Dynomat in the entire trunk, rear deck, trunk lid, license plate. Should look and sound good.

Your system looks really nice!

Thanks appreciate the advice, but what about the other materials/items i would need (let's say if i went to best buy) to get it installed? Also, how much would the box be?

if you go with best buy u will not get any thing custom..need to find rep locate shop... as far as the other materials... there are so many to choice from. MDF wood is prolly the favorite for making a box... my box is MDF, and the panels are as well but thinner for less weight.
id said basic install with rca's and wire for the amp and box 300 - 500 hundred...

once you get into the components and sound processors it can get exspensive.

Im not getting any components...jus amp n sub..I just purchased the JL XD-PCS4-1B amp installation kit. The audio shop (Sound Concept Nanuet NY) im getting the install at said the install would be $125 plus price of box. Getting a JL sealed enclosure...hopefully their price is not the same as the JL w7 enclosures online which are like $500+

And yes please give us details when you get your car back from the shop
That's definitely nice and clean looking. I could go without the lights myself... but I admire the fit and finish a lot, it's obvious that a lot of work went into that.

I need a trunk myself, though. :P My days of filling trunks with speakers passed about 10 years ago.
^^^^ I was just having that conversation with swtjlsy

Clean install. Looks like they do good work. I would like to see the wiring though. It's easy to cover everything up with panels and wood. But, judging by the picture, I'm sure they did a great job.

i went there everyday while being installed ... lol ... wiring it awesome... all the wiring from the each speaker and amp kits wiring was placed together and zip tied every 4 inches .... so yes very clean install.
