Squeaking brakes
Recently took my newly acquired 07 GS350 in for the 60K maintainence, and asked the service dept to check my squeaking brakes also. Upon picking the car up, the service consultant said that this squealing is normal for this model and "its just the nature of the beast".
I've searched the forum and couldn't find a definitive answer for this. The squealing has become increasingly loud to the point where the car is almost undriveable. Any suggestions?

Just bought the car 1k miles ago. Got a friend that's a mechanic and he advised to get the brake pads changed since the front brakes are 80% worn and the back are practically new. I'm planning on purchasing some pads from the Lexus dealership in the am. Is this a wise move. If so, what should I expect to pay for parts?

Had my mechanic install new front rotors, brakes, and rear brakes are fairly new but it's still squeaking. I'm going to take it back to the dealership in the next few days and keep my fingers crossed. Not a good start for my 1st Lexus

It was a duralast shim kit that caused this attack on my checking account:
$340 New rotors (did not need these, ill advice from my mechanic)
$80 new brakes (again, didnt need but I guess it never hurts)
$100 labor: local mechanic
$120 new shim install (dealership)
An expensive lesson learned but I'm relieved that the squealing is gone.
