rear passenger side sensor keeps going off but nothings there!
so my rear pass side sensor will turn red when i put my car in reverse when nothing is ever there. it does this frequently from time to time but not all the time. is there some type of calibration necessary? I noticed this happening after i switched my battery out a few weeks back.

You're supposed to drive in a straight line for some time after the battery has been disconnected to calibrate the parking sensors/wheel center. I dunno, I've never had to do anything particularly special after disconnecting mine in this regard though.
It's in the manual.
Check for damage to the sensor, clean it off.
The only time mine go crazy is during heavy snow and thick snow slush/ice sludge builds up on my front bumper. Last weekend there was a 3 inch thick layer of ice/slush on my bumper.

well seeing how this has been going on for some time, i'd be safe in saying i've probably driven 2000 miles in a straight line lol. i live in socal theres no type of environmental effects taht would cause this. as for dirt or anything of that nature - i wash my car almost every 2 weeks. odd...

My 06GS430 had similar problems when it hit 3yrs. Apparently, the sensors were failing and needed to be replaced. Over the course of 6 months, 3 rear sensors failed as they were going red intermittently with nothing there (esp when the sun was shining directly on it). I was still under warranty, so they all got replaced for free.
I didn't hit anything with the rear bumper so I thought it odd that 3 sensors failed one after the other. It all got replaced for free so it didn't really bother me.
Hopefully yours can get replaced for free if they've failed like mine were a couple years ago.

I've had this issue intermitently last year and it's odd that it hasn't happened at all this whole winter. The only solution beyond completely repllacing the sensors and also the labor used to take the bumper off would to disconnect battery and try again.
