Easy way to upgrade the ML amp and sub?
so 1 of my good friends is a stereo-installer and did all the work on my cars but he's been hard to get ahold of lately.
Anywho, i want to upgrade the amp and subwoofer on my ML-equipped GS...
im wondering if this is a simple plug-n-play swap-out option? I don't plan to touch any of the speakers, just those 2 components. If so, what channel amp do i need? as for the subwoofer, im going to go with a "mild" 10" subwoofer...kicker, alpine, JL, etc...
i've worked on all my cars and have no problem swapping out radios, just never touched an amp or sub setup

what channel amp??? you mean how many channels. if its for one sub you can use either a mono block amp(one channel) or a 2- channel amp (bridged). just make sure you get your ohms right. thats a bit more complicated. depending on if you already have the sub. about the ml package thing. i wish i knew. i have a gs without the ml and i want to add a sub but am stumped as to how im going to do this.

Why not keep your ML unit and integrate an MS-8 into your system. Very simple to install and great flexibility.
Install is so simple....plug and play with the ML system. There's a lot of flexibility and the unit includes a remote with built in controls and 31 band EQ.
We mounted the unit in the trunk:
And I built a custom CF pod for the remote in my existing ash tray:
System sounds 100% better than using line converters and rats nest connections.

Well Mr Mark that piece from JBL is over $800 and why it is a nice piece it the size of a amp which mean more room. I do understand that you have to have something beside a hi/low and after I spent 500 for all of my cleansweep I can see why we must have something like this in our cars. So if you are not really replacing you head unit you still are in equipment.

hi-lo converter is the easiest way the speaker wires from the sub connect to the hi-lo converter then you use the rca plugs on the other end to connect to the new amp
