Default Valve Spring recall and oil service

My car needs oil service and is at the dealer for the valve spring recall. Is it possible to do the valve spring service without draining and replacing the oil? Seems kind of silly to pay for oil service when it will be done anyway.

welcome to clublexus.

i am confused. if they are going to change the engine oil when doing the valve recall anyway, then why don't you just do the valve recall and it's kind of like oil change thrown in for free?

...exactly the point of my ?. The car is there for the valve spring service and the dealer claims that they do not need to "change" the oil to do the valve spring work--this sounds ridiculous and seems to me the dealer is trying to collect extra $ for doing an oil change that I think would be done anyway.

Just wanted to get opinions from others if it is actually possible to do the valve service without actually changing the oil.

Nope, oil change is not needed for valve springs recall (at least they did not change when they did the service).

But the dealership will fill up the tank for you, so you know...

Nope...they do NOT need to drain the oil when they do the valve springs. Now, this doesn't mean that the TSIB doesn't say to go ahead and change it anyways because they have been known to do so. I have not seen the TSIB yet so I can't pull it up to view. Strange that it's not on TIS yet.

Not only fill the tank but they rotated my tires/checked brakes and detailed the car. that surprised me and I think it runs better!

Wow that's nice.

Mine's still in for the recall. It's on day 2 now.

Driving the 2IS 250 AWD doesn't impress me very much...

I had just taken my car in this week to replace the roof rail. The paint was peeling off... After I picked up my car I noticed on the invoice that they did the valve spring recall. They never mention to me that they were going to do this... I also checked my vin # and my car was not affected. I just thought that was kind of weird. Oh, and it did not mention anything about an oil change !

Small and mainly straight-line performance.

The lack of the door buttons/sensors on all four doors bugs me too.

It does handle quite well though.

Hey ReyRey305,

How long did they have your car?

It took the dealership a day and a half to do the valve spring recall on mine....
I did pay for the oil change because they said it was not included with the recall but they did fill the tank with premium, at least $50 right there!!

I just drop off my car yesterday and they told me it is going to take about almost 2 weeks. I also requested an experience mechanic, and they said, only the experience (senior) mechanic are doing the valve springs recall. (maybe that is why its going to take awhile?)

*they also did not mention about any oil change*

Lol dam, i have little bit more than half a tank, if i known i shouldnt have pump before took it in.
