does the navi upgrade disc upgrade the os? Because a family member has a 2006 GS300. but the navigation screen quality is poor and wondering if the new dvd would make it sharper/clearer

No it won't make it sharper or clearer, you would need gen 5 for that.

Are the installation instructions from Sewell the correct or only way to upgrade the DVD? Seems like a lot of work just to get to the DVD box...

mine is seriously due for an update. it doesn't even have my home address..

^^^ haha I have a similar problem...Although, my home address is in there...However, when I try to find a gas station in an area I'm not familiar with, I always end up either on some empty lot covered with weeds & grass or its a construction zone...

i had 7.1, then i had 8.1 and now 9.1. honestly i don't see the point of upgrading every year

why the **** does sewell instruct you to take apart half your dash to eject the dvd map disc? does anyone else find this rather retarded?

rip out the console, console side trim, door panel trim, dash side panel, knee airbag and glox box to eject a disc? ....lol (yes i know it can be done through the touchscreen headunit)

sounds like a dealership money grabber, hour+ labour to "install dvd disc"

well sewell doesn't instruct you to do so, i think that's official instruction from lexus. why? i don't know, for sure it's a lot of work for nothing

I updated to the latest one since i got the car, waiting on the 10.1 to upgrade. Still with updates there is a lot missing. So yea anually its need to be done if u ever planing to use the nav. And no i dont spend $200+ for that amount i wouldnt do it neither.
