My beautiful GS is RUINED!
I was driving on a highway today in 80 degree weather when suddenly a rain started. Then suddenly I see the cars in front of me braking and stopping completely in the the middle of highway, or pulling onto a shoulder. I was puzzled for only a few seconds before a chunk of ice the size of a golf ball hit my hood. I stopped and sat there in pain as my baby Matador Red 450h got pummeled by hail!
There was nothing I could do. All the traffic was stopped, and there were no overpasses to hide under. And the whole thing ended in less than a minute.
Hearing these huge chunks of ice hit my car I knew with perfect certainty: "It's going to leave a mark."
Indeed it did, though it lasted no more than 30 seconds, my hood and roof now have at least 10 nice size dings.
I called my insurance company and filed a claim immediately upon coming home. If only I didn't raise my comprehensive deductible from $100 to $500 a year ago! In any case, I'm quite sure it's going to be a very expensive repair. The hood of the GS is aluminum, and I think they have to replace it now. I remember reading that dings can't be removed from the aluminum hood.
The worst part is the roof. If they have to straighten out the dings (by removing headliner) or replace the roof, I have a feeling I'm going to get a bunch of new squeaks and creaks in the process.
This has been the most f$&ked up spring of all times in the DC area. And this hail in the middle of a day with an 84 degree temperature is ridiculous!

That's crazy ... what a nightmare! I can't imagine how that must have felt. What did it sound like?
One ray of optimism is that I had a dent removed from my hood last year and it was perfect. Pales in comparison to your ordeal though. Hang in there though.
