i put aftermarket fog light bulbs and after a while i realized that it was melting the plastic piece that that bulb connects to. i realized it when my light went off then when i play with the socket it turns back on which is a bad connection. i called the dealer up and asked what do i need to do and he told me that i need to change the whole entire wire that connects from the harnes, which will run me about a grand. i am deff not gonna drop that for a fog light wire lol, can any one give me a suggestion on what to do to get around it. thanks

a few had this issue on the 2IS. I think they where able to get the wire and replace it with out the help of the dealer. Try to search over there and see if you can find the thread. Its an older thread.

what bulbs did you have in, nokyas?
your warranty doesn't cover this?

i got them from strauss by what the book said, they were hyper white blue bulbs like 9000 something. the guy told me that its a common problem when u put those aftermarket bulbs because they get to hot for the socket

can u just stick in ur old bulbs and 'pretend' your stocks caused it? damn i might have to get a harness.

^ they wont cover that. you need to get a harness. I cant recall where to get them but there is discussion in the 2IS section about this. I think iSuxel (john) had posted a place to buy them? Been a while so not positive

wow this sucks, i spoke to the tech from the dealer he said he will try finding me a solution because that wire from the harness is like mad loot. lol

Did you try changing just the connector? The wattage on your after market bulb is too high, try to stay with 55 watts the next time.

You can find them almost anywhere, just go to autozone or something and ask for a 9006 plug/socket.

I've never had any issues like this in my life to be honest and I've been through everything in the book. Right now I have HIDs in mine and no issues.

Could have been that the bulb your running is more voltage/wattage then stock.

Cant you cut the wires and rewire it yourself? Very easy. And this way you can make the fogs come on by themselves without the headlights at the same time...

A not very well sealed HID harness I had in my fogs eventually caused the factory harness to corrode out. You should be able to cut the old connector off, solder a new one on (ebay extremely cheap) and put some heat shrink tube over the joint for good measure. Seeing as how it is only two wires per side, it's not a big deal. The most annoying part would be just getting to the wires through the stiff wheel well covers.
