06 GS 300 AWD price?
Found a CPO 06 GS 300 AWD @ 56k miles for $26,995 at my local Lexus dealer in Illinois. I was wondering what people thought about the price and if I can bargin down since I'm starting to research more about this car. Thanks.

not sure what options are on there but from what i saw it does have NAV but no ML. we'll see if they budge on the price since i think it's been on the lot for awhile.

$27k? That's high but it's an asking price. I'd think $25-26kish is realistic, that being said, for a couple thousand more you can swing an 07 GS350 AWD with Nav/Lev and miles in the mid-upper 50s that's CPO.

I never really grasped the whole CPO thing, it always seems they are 4-5K more, wouldn't it be the same if you bought an 06 GS for 22-23K and just paid 1800 for an extended warranty for 3 years, you actually paid 23-24 for the car with the same coverage? Not so much with Lexus, but with BMW, some cars are a matter of 7-8K because of CPO, when you can save 7-8K and buy a BMW extended warranty for 2gs. If I'm wrong, someone please chime in. Just wondered....

well they do replace tires, brakes, and other things that are below their standards so that factors in along with the extended warranty. if you buy private it's as is so you would have to pay for the maintenance stuff on your own.

If it helps to compare...in Feb 2010, I bought my 07 GS350 AWD CPO (Lexus of Seattle) with 46K for 31K. It was Blk/Blk NAV/ML and you are correct about the standards. It came with brand new tires, brakes and calipers because it squeaked a couple of days after i bought it. When i go back there for service, I've got wholesale price on parts and always a loaner since i bought from them.
BTW..AWD goes for a premium around here.

The difference between a CPO and a Non CPO is easily $3,000. If it helps, I'm a used car manager at a Lexus dealership.
Generally to CPO a car usually runs me $1,500-2,000 in our service department, I can pretty much count on replacing the tires (And we don't use Nexens or Kumhos, we use OEMs) and changing the front and rear brakes and every filter, fluids, etc. Plus around here (Jersey) lots of cars need bumpers redone because of scuffs, take the odd door ding out, etc. Then the cost on CPO is $995, so that's $3,000 right there. I have an IS250 on the lot that I didn't CPO, tires are at 4-5/32nds, brakes 40-50%. It's also a 33k mile Navi 08 for 07 CPO Money. We did the oil change, checked it over, detailed it, wiper blades, filters, etc, but we didn't go whole hog. It's a great switch car for when that CPO 08 is too much $$.
Basically, I CPO some cars, and don't CPO others, it depends. Right now, for example, I have a bunch of 09 ES350s that came out of loaner service, one has like 11k miles on it. Why CPO that car? It's already got 3 years and 39k left on the warranty.
Meanwhile the 45k mile 07? That gets CPO'd.

rld14: thank you for your insight from the dealer's perspective. I've just purchased a CPO '06 GS430 (with 45k) for about $26,500. I also bought my wife an '06 GS300 AWD (non-CPO) for $24,000. My credit union booked her car at $24,200. So, we weren't that much off. Other than having to replace the tires, filters, and do an oil change, the car runs great! Of course I would prefer to have a CPO car, but the price was good so I bought it.

that's a good point. tires and brakes are expensive. right around a yr ago i paid 26,000 for a non-cpo 2006 gs awd, nav & ml which was a good 3-4 thousand less than cpo. but over the past few months I wound up spending 1,200 on new tires, rear brakes, filters, etc.
