They are lying to you. There isn't a Lexus Dealer in the world who hasn't heard of the 3GS creaky dashboard issue. it's been on the market FOUR YEARS now and there have been numerous attempts to fix. I don't believe there is a permanent fix for it. They pad it up, it is marginally better for few miles, but it turns up like a bad penny every time.

best bet is get the thing 'fixed' under warranty at the dealer and sell it the next day. You'll never, ever be truly happy with the car if it's a creaker.

There is a TSIB for a fix on the dash creak . I had mine done as well but it took three tries. The only thing I would tell you is that when they fix the dash you may get some creaking around the console
