The answer is yes: Lexus GS - the most stolen car in Russia http://translate.google.com/translat...Fa%2F125057%2F Perfect timing on the article to answer your question.

(The summary line: "Prepared an annual ranking of hijackings" - in the original Russian article it actually says "Prepared an annual ranking of stolen vehicles", but I believe English translation provides better explanation why GS is at the top.)

^ then having an anti-carjacking device would be mandatory in russia. you would need something like this:

http://www.clifford.com/Products/Pro...?ProductID=719

with blackjax installed, you needed to manually input your code into a keypad every time the door opens or when you start the car. it is really tiring at first, but becomes second nature when you are used to it.

basically blackjax is a passive (?) device - if the carjacker confronts you with a knife or gun, you give your car up to him. do not confront the carjacker. when the door opens and you get out, it triggers blackjax. let the carjacker drive the car away. after approx 30 sec to 1 minute later, the blackjax gives an audible beep asking for the code. if you are the legitimate driver/ower, enter code and carry on. if you don't enter the correct code, alarm goes off - ignition and fuel is cut off and the car is dead on the road with car alarm blaring. this forces carjacker to abandon vehicle, which the owner can retrieve his own vehicle personally. or wait for police to confirm the car is safe to pick up.

imho, blackjax is a great security feature and i loved using it. fully recommend this product. but the alarm and install is not cheap, you do have "to pay to play" with something like this.

^Thought that the guy with the ISF set it up himself, to get insurance money etc etc. I haven't read up on it in awhile, but to me it seem extremely fishy to me. I don't think Lexus are that easy to steal, most toyotas don't get stolen if i am correct.. If you have a garage you shouldn't worry.

In Russia, 2 or 3 guys with guns take you for a ride to a deserted place, where they drop you off. Most of the expensive cars in Russia have satellite systems like LoJack or OnStar, allowing to locate the car and stop its engine. Dropping the driver off in the remote place without means of communication allows them time to put the car in the metal container or underground garage, which will block the signal.

So, guess what they will do to you if after taking the car, it cuts off and will not start.

I am being a di(k how? you should stop being so damn judgmental. I simply thought that it was funny that an IS-F was stolen using a flatbed. OMG im heartless! While i do feel having your car "stooling" is a terrible thing, the thought of an IS-F being whisked away is just so damn hilariously. gone are the days of 60 seconds.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand..

i see. well if carjacking is that bad in russia, then it doesn't make sense to buy a GS or any luxury vehicle (why be a walking target). might as well drive an old lada and be overlooked....
