Default Steering Wheel Button Lighting...

Is there any way to adjust the light dimming on the 3GS steering wheel? It is extremely dim and you really can't make out what they say. Everything on the middle console can be brightened to a perfect glow but it just looks like the steering wheel has busted LED's on the back.....

Is it just my car or does everyone else notice the same?

No everyone's is like this. The reason it is so dim and you can not adjust it is because they don't want it to blind the driver at night. At least this is what I have heard.

I find the lack of lit controls on the sunroof/upper light switches
and LED only interior lighting to be poorly designed
features. Now, don't accuse me of bashing. Don't forget,I
own an 06 GS. No matter, the car is sharp!

I couldn't agree more. I have a difficult time at night seeing the buttons above.

I agree except the sunroof/light situation overhead. Me and every single passenger not only try with difficulty to find the right button to press, more than 90 percent of the time, the WRONG button is pressed

Welcome to our Club! well some owners don't seem to be bothered by it.

The steering wheel lights and overhead button lights were the first things I wrote on the new car owner's survey 3 years ago. I don't think Lexus care much about it after all... There was a thread about the interior LED lighting from a Japanese company but I would guess it could be a DIY of changing the LED bulbs.

They're not glow in the dark.

I think my steering wheel lights are just fine. The overhead console, however is a different story. I am constantly pushing the wrong button! Another lighting annoyance.....the cruise control control stock. I'll bet I have to turn the dome light on at least once a week to see what i'm doing with the cruise. And it doesn't light up the stalk very well either. Oh well; great car with minor annoyances

Yes I agree that the steering wheel lights are wayy too low/soft. I asked them at the dealer and they said there is no fix for it, and it has been brought up in the past. What about how bad the LED is that is shining on the gear shift?? too bright!! They also told me there was no way to turn that F-er off.

Yeah the overhead console is a big PITA. Those are even dimmer than the steering wheel ones.
