Default Lease deals

Next, we listened to both systems with discs that I had with me. The ML sounds a little better, but not night and day. Having said that, all three of us agreed that it was enough of a difference that I would get the ML. My theory is that if I'm going to spend the money to get a Lexus, then why stop short of the best stereo they have to offer.

BTW, we also went to the Acura dealer and drove a AWD w/tech. Sorry, but the Acura stereo is significantly better than even the ML system.

At this point, the Lexus dealer made me a pretty good offer on the GS350 and I'll have to make a decision in the next week or so.

Thanks for the input.
Do you mind sharing what kind of offer your dealer made on the 2010 GS350 (over invoice)?

Yes, I am interested on that too, also the dealership if you are in the Metroplex. The lease on my 07 GS350 will be up in 3 months.

Thanks...

I don't know about the deal he's getting, but I know I can get $1,000 over invoice right now on either the RWD or AWD GS350 around here (Northern Virginia).

I'm not at $1000 over invoice - but not done negotiating either. But I can say this, lease deals are a lot more complex than just how much over invoice. Things like whether they use the "base buy rate" or mark it up, and various fees and taxes make a difference.

At this point, the lease payment for 36 months is very good here in Texas because they have tax credits. If you understand Texas lease taxing, you know that is a big deal.

I'll just say this. If you get the absolute best friggen deal possible, a 36 month lease in Texas right now is probably going to put you at around $775 a month - with no money down and 15,000 miles a year. Anything under $800 a month is a pretty good deal.

This should give you some idea what to shoot for on a lease right now.

A $1000 over invoice seems to be pretty high in this economy, isn't it?

Not on a Lexus. You really can't use Chevy mentality on Lexus for the most part. They don't have the volume. Also, most premium brands have intra-dealer fees charged against the sales dept. I've seem Mercedes, BMW, Infiniti and Lexus dealers let sales walk out the door because sales has no control over internal dealer fees that they have to pass along to the customer.

Wow, that seems awfully high for a GS350. I'm paying $800 a month on a 2007 GS 450h (36 months, 12K miles a year). Personally, I would never pay that much for the GS350 when you can get BMW 535i for under $700 a month lease.

Sorry, but no way can you lease a 535 for under 700 - not even close. Admittedly, you are talking 12,000 miles a year, not 15,000. But I promise you can't get there. I've got all the numbers to figure a 535 lease if you need facts.

BTW, a lot of people forget that different states have different ways of taxing leases. But even with zero taxes you'd be lucky to lease a 535 for under 900 a month. I don't have time right now, but I"ll run some numbers later if I get a chance.

OKAY, I just ran the numbers on a typically equiped 535 (list price around 60,000). Without going into all the details, if you COULD buy the car for $500 over invoice (and with the $2500 incentive right now), and if you COULD get the base money factor (hard to do, but not impossible), in Texas that car would lease for around $850 a month. Admittedly less than I guessed above, but it's also based upon a deal that may not even be realistic - and still a long way from under $700. BTW, I did base it on 15,000 a year as that is their standard lease. I know they have a lower mileage lease but I don't have the residuals for that.

i am splitting up the thread into a new one, the other one is about audio and ml....

for lease, over 800 bucks for a 535 and honestly i would it suck bad.... i am paying around 700 for my gs350, and i am paying "only" around 1000 for my m3 (80k), so by comparison the lease deal on the 535 isn't close to anything attractive. i thought bmw has some december lease deals?

granted i think under 700 for 535 is quite out of the equation, i actually expect around 800 to be a reasonable number

There December residuals and MF's are what they have been the past few months, but they do have $2500 cash that applies to purchase or lease.

Anyone who has not looked at leased in the past 12 months is really out of the loop. The scenery has changed a lot in the past 12 months. 24 month leases - which I've done many of, are not at all attractive anymore. Lexus, Acura and BMW seem to be the only ones with residuals that are still pretty good - but not great.

It takes some homework, but it's possible to get a better lease deal than your dealer may have to offer.

The following info is from Bimmerfest:

2010 BMW 535i Sedan
24 Month – Residual 62% of MSRP – .00240 Base Rate
36 Month – Residual 58% of MSRP – .00240 Base Rate
48 Month – Residual 32% of MSRP – .00245 Base Rate
60 Month – Residual 27% of MSRP – .00245 Base Rate

2010 BMW 550i Sedan
24 Month – Residual 61% of MSRP – .00225 Base Rate
36 Month – Residual 57% of MSRP – .00225 Base Rate
48 Month – Residual 29% of MSRP – .00245 Base Rate
60 Month – Residual 24% of MSRP – .00245 Base Rate

Residuals posted are for 15K miles/year. Add 2% to Residual for 12k mi/yr and 3% for 10k mi/yr on all terms

On http://www.leasecompare.com/ we have special rates right now on certain makes.

Go to the site, select a vehicle and you will see the special rates along with payments. This would apply if we secure the vehicle or if you have found one.

You need to go to a professional, be it a dealer or otherwise. This is a good start:

When requesting manufacture (captive) lease programs (money factors and residuals) please be as specific as possible.

Post a NEW topic and include the Year, Make, Model, Style (2008 Toyota Highlander Limited 4WD)

In the Message Subject use the vehicle NAME and the words "Lease Rates".

It takes a lot of time to get the data, format it and post it.

Please do a search for your vehicle BEFORE you post to see if the data has already been posted.

Remember to always compare what the dealer is offering to the lease sources on http://www.LeaseCompare.com.
Go to:
http://www.leasecompare.com/auto_lea...hp?f=18&t=2905

Terry has been doing business from the days before the Internet was available to all of us. I remember his savvy advices way back when CompuServe was the best place for gathering information on line. Check it out with him and please post back your findings so we can all benefit from the information.

I'm not sure who some of the posts above were aimed at. Just to clarify, I used the information that was posted a couple of posts above this on the BMW.

Second, I now exactly what goes into a lease calculation and how to run the numbers. If anyone has specific questions about how I got there let me know.

The Lexus GS numbers right now are 54% at 36 months and 61% at 24. The base buy rate money factor is .00220. The dealer I'm using in the Houston area has tax credits and tax is 1.20% of the entire capitalized cost. The acquisition fee is $700 and TT&L comes out to about $150 (he doesn't show it, but entering $150 into the calculation comes out within pennies of the payment). On my quote, there was zero money up front except the first payment, so all fees and taxes were rolled into the monthly payment.

As some of you know, most dealers mark up the money factor. My dealer did at first, but then came down to the base rate I listed above.

I've spent a lot of time on the lease compare site recently. In most cases, the numbers were extremely close. In the case of the GS350, I was way below Leasecompare - and I really don't think I'm at the bottom yet.
