Manufacture buyback lemon
ok well heres my question. i have a very goo dfriend who is trying to sell his car, 2006 gs300 awd navi, 38k miles selling to me ofr 21k since he is a good friend of mine. the only problem is that it is a "lemon" manufacturer buy back. the problem isnt mechanical , its a cosmetic defect. apparently the cars driver side door rubs up against the front fender. the problem has been fixed but the car still has a clean title with a "manufacturer buyback" stick. do you think this car is still worth it? thanks again guys

If you want to drive it for a while, go for it. If you want to keep it for a year or two and then sell it, stay away. I owned couple of cars with "totalled/reconstructed" titles. The branded title is only relevant when you are trying to sell an expensive car. Driving it is no different then any other car, providing it was fixed right.

A buyback title is quite as bad as a salvaged title, but I would look into it a little more. Seems strange to me a simple thing like a door alignment can warrant a buyback. If it turns out to the case, then offer him market value minus 10 to 20% for the buyback title, that way, when you decide to sell it, you will not have a hard time.

also i know ppl who did lemon law on purpose becausw some manufactors offer you all the payments u made before on it. Basiclly if u lease a car for 3 years and u pay 500 a month for it and you had it for 10 months and then u dont like it and wanna get rid of it. Dont want to do insurance scam u can go to ure mechanic and have him turn on check engine light neatly so it can't be seen and then on the third time get it lemoned lawed. As i stated before some manufacters take it back and give u bak the money for the months u paid. Basiclly a free car. So dont be too scared take the vin take it to lexus and see if it was serviced there before. Thats what i did all the oil changes n rattles was done in lexus.

In most case, Lexus offer buy back on minor issues out of good will. Rattles do not qualified for buyback, at least not in MA. A buyback have to be an issue which render the car un-driveable or if its a safety issue.
