Default trunk automatic closer

How much effort do you use to initiate the automatic trunk closer? I was under the impression that, when the trunk was closed to about its halfway position, the closer motor would take over. However, I find I must depress the trunklid with enough force to get it within an inch or two of full closure before the auto-close motor takes over.

Personally me not much u gotta use just about right strength to get it away a inch or two for automatic motor to take over. I kinda got the hang of it as of now. But i would definatly would like a button or something for automatic closer

it pretty much has to get very close and almost latch the first time in order for the closure to work

Where did they hide the wiring harness for the trunk lid lights?

I mean, where does it transfer from the body of the car into the trunk lid. Usually its either attached to a hinge or hidden inside the hinge. Not the case with the GS.

When you open the trunk, you will see a black strap on the left side going to the trunk lid. That houses the power cable.

That's what I've been suspecting. Does it also serve as a trunk lid "down puller" when you close the trunk?

Sad to say... but this is the most wasteful and dumbest way to use this technology!!!

If you close without enough force it would not activate and if you slam it too hard you would think in the long run it would damage the sensor!?!

I would pay more for them to use it on the doors (ie LS460's AUTOMATIC DOOR CLOSER), and/or fully automatic open/close on the RX350!!!

I couldn't agree more with your comments, SLK.
