Default S-Mode Driving!

In an earlier post I mentioned the issue I face with while driving in S-Mode. In my sisters ES350, you are the sole person in control of the shifting process using the lever. However in my GS460, there is a conflict. IF I FLOOR the Pedal, the car will shift BYITSELF before the redline (no problems here). However, if the pedal is not pushed to its fullest, computer does not seem to shift for me and I think I hurt my car today since it redlined for a while (I thought the computer will shift). I do not seem to understand how this works???? Will the computer shift for me ONLY if i floor the pedal????? and will not if I dont??

P.S - Read the manual and there is nothing mentioned about this issue

i am a bit confused by your post, but basically the number on the dash (controlled by the shifter) determines the highest gear you can be in. so if you are at stop, and you put it in 2, then at 1st gear redline computer will shift into 2nd, and at 2nd gear redline, you will need to go to 3 otherwise it will just keep on bouncing at the rev limited

and don't worry, unless you drive like that for an hour i don't think it will really hurt your car

I am now confused by your post too :/. Ill try and simplify what i wrote.
1) Steps 2 and 3 happened in S-Mode
2) From a roll-on, I floored the pedal to its fullist, car shifted before redline.
3) From roll-on, pushed the pedal 3/4 of the way, car DID NOT shift before redline.
4) You can see that I am having a conflict. Some it shifts b4 redline, sometimes not.

Ok...in Step 2 and 3, what number was displayed in your gauge cluster?

If it displays 1, it'll stay in first gear until YOU shift. If it displays 2, it'll shift automatically to 2 for you. If it displays 4, it'll shift through all gears up to 4. Think of this number as being the 'max' gear you want to car to reach.

hmmm.... interesting. i always wondered why when im at a light and i put it in triptronic it always displays 5. i always downshift to 1 then start. never really bothered to find out why it does this because i hardly ever shift my car myself.

This is not the case. When it displays 1; i just floor the pedal and the computer WILL SHIFT FOR ME to gear 2. And when pedal is not to its fullest it wont.

Lets say I am in a rolling race, gear 1 is on dashboard, I floor the pedal and the computer will shift through gears 2,3,4 and so on. Did others try this?

done it.... lemme tell ya, it wasn't a good feeling, but it won't harm your car, if you rechip your ECU that's a diff story... (which i doubt is possible at this stage in our 3gs's lives) the car isn't harmed, like he said, unless u drive like that for an hr, it's not going to harm the car, in all honesty the car has a redline where it's safe that u can drive on it for a looooong time

as for the car shifting for you, it's never done that for me would be cool though haha
