Default Potenza RE960AS Pole Position vs Michelin PS A/S Plus?

I originally had my eye on the Potenza RE960AS Pole Position tires as my future replacement, but I keep hearing how good the Michelin PS A/S Plus tires are. They both have about the same TireRack rating (PS 1st - RE 2nd) with Wet and Dry Performance a virtual toss-up , the major differences I can see are:

1. The Potenza has a higher noise comfort rating (8.7 vs 8.2 for Michelin).

2. Michelin has longer tread life (45,000 vs 40,000 for Potenza).

3. Michelins are $226/Tire, Potenzas are $187/tire for 245/40R18 size.

So I'd like to hear from the Potenza RE960AS Pole Position people if they feel their tires are equally as good, and why the Michelin people, who may had considered buying the Potenza tire, decided to go with the Michelins instead? Has anyone driven on both tires and if so what is your impression of one versus the other? I'm thinking this whole issue is probably very subjective, but if I'm going to plunk down my hard earned cash I'd like to think I got the best tire.

I currently have the Potenza tires and love them. The tires they replaced were the Michelin PS2 which was an excellent tire but the cost was prohibitive. So I also considered the Michelin PS A/S Plus (a very good tire also by all the reviews i read) but in the end for me it was the noise comfort rating that did it (oh yeah the cost too!) I have no regrets, my next pair will be the Potenza's.
Good luck! Keep us posted.

In Regards to the hwy grooves, I would say not as much as the Michelins, but can't say much about the wet surfaces cuz this is phoenix and it doesn't rain much.

i got pilot sports a/s+ for my 19" s f sports, road noise is high for me, on wet surfaces the handling and gripping is amazing.
