want to have dvd
I really want to be able to play DVD's on my screen up front.
In my 2006 gs300 I do NOT have navi.
What i want to know is if i get a new head unit( factory unit with screen) that has the navi button on it, can i play dvds on it or will i need the dvd drive that goes in the glove box as well? and If the new unit plays dvds will it have the dvd logo on the front of the unit?

you can play DVD on any screen
All you need is a navi/TV kit and a separate DVD player that should easily fit in the glove box. You will have a switch to toggle from DVD to OEM. I have done it in other cars and it works good. I believe we have a vendor on here that sells the kit you need. Its very easy to install. You could go as far as placing monitors in the rear of the headrests while you are at it
