Finally fixed my car with the rattle issue. I found the clip on Youtube and showed it to a service adviser and they found the problem. Almost cost me a arm and a leg but extended warranty saved me.
Also I had a squeaky brake issue but had to pay for it but now it is gone.

that's the amount I had to pay to fix squeaky brakes. I had to use 20% labor discount coupon to lower the damage.

Would have been better going with aftermarket brake pads and brand new rotors.

Never thought about until you said.

Here is a youtube video clip that I showed to a service adviser.

My car just started doing this after years and years... I thought I was safe... long out of warranty now. Curiously started happening shortly after getting an oil change... intermittent. Does oil level have anything to do with it? Is it even a GS300 issue or is it just the 350, could it be something else entirely?

I don't think that engine oil level has to do anything.

Luckily I had my extended warranty to cover the damage but it could have been easily ignored like you did.

My warranty is good til this year so I wanted to take care of it before it expires.

Believe me, I had to visit the service department a couple of times, they only said they couldn't duplicate the issue.

I guess the third time was a charm. I am glad it is gone now.

I've seen even IS250 is doing it but specially with this kind of economy,

I don't think they would like to admit their problems which will cost them lots of money to fix this issue.

I recently purchases a certified 2007 GS 350. At approximately 57K miles I started to hear this noise upon engine startup intermitantly. The noise was identified by the dealer to in fact be the cam gear actuators on both sides. The issue is with an 'oil leak down' condition with the cam gear actuators. This was covered under the powertrain warranty.

I just got my GS350 AWD back from the dealer today. I took it in for an oil change and mentioned the can rattle and he gave me a loaner. Three days later, I get it back and it's as good as new. He said that it would have cost me over $2000.

I just bought a 2010 GS350 with 33,200 miles on June 26, 2013. Although the noise is not as pronounced as in the video for the 2007 GS350, I can tell something is not right. I didn't see any of this until after I traded my old 99 GS400 on this car. I had nearly 300000 miles on it, and never had a noise like that. I guess belts are much quieter than timing chains.

The technicians say my noise is normal, and the result of new direct injectors. I don't buy that. I want to pose the question to current 2010 to 2013 owners. Is anyone else hearing this noise on the newest cars?
The engine oil cap says 5w-30, and has always been serviced at Lexus dealerships. This concerns me already.

I have the exact same noise in my 2007 GS350 AWD. After weeks of observing it closely, I can add some info. Mine NEVER does this on the first cold start of the day. It seems to only happen after the engine has been running at operating temp, then shut down and allow to cool for 2 to 4 hours. Then start it and it will almost certainly make that noise, but only once, and will not repeat after several additional starts.

Could be something with the temperature of the oil??

Same here, took it to my buddies shop and couldn't duplicate the sound. So my only resort is to leave my car with him for him to duplicate and diagnosis the issue. If it's the cam gears like previous member stated, how much does that usually run to fix/replace?

At the dealer or independent repair shop? it all depends, it would have cost me $1500 at the dealer without a warranty.

I ended up taking my car to Lexus this past Saturday. They'r going to diagnose it and see what the issue is.
