Default No CD information shows...Mk Levinson

I've tried searching but I can't find anything...sorry as I'm sure it's somewhere here.

Anyhow, I've got a 450H w/Mark Levinson system. When I put a CD in, and go to the audio display, no information shows up. No song titles, time etc.

These are legit CDs, not copies or anything.

Is this normal? If it is, what kind of CDs does one need to use?

Thanks,

First off, nice car! I'm not quite sure what you're referring to about time, but only CDs with embedded text with song titles will show up. Very few CDs actually have it, but primarily newer CDs do. The car doesn't have gracenote so it relies on the CD to provide that information.

Also, when burning CDs be sure to click the box that says "include CD text"

If it just doesn't show up at all, just take it to the dealer.

Thanks Lucas,

Seems strange...where does the information come from when you rip a CD to itunes?

To my knowledge when you check the box for iTunes to get song titles it goes to gracenote or some other unknown apple server. It then names the files and when burned, includes that information on the CD for the car to read and display.

that's in line with what i thought. that's the case on ls460, hdd based ML system. it has gracenotes database (that you can upgrade free at dealerships) that will match the songs to their info if available
