Default RIP - Ruby Red Metallic

Well, it seems Lexus has dropped the Ruby Red color from the '09 ES line, and has decided to share the same red color as the GS. Now granted, the GS and ES are different machines, but from an appearance standpoint, most of the public needs to read the letter designation on the rear to differentiate the models. Lexus has chosen to further blur the lines between the two by sharing yet another color in common.

probably just way to reduce cost and with the number of red on the road

we'll probably never see them together anywhere but the dealer

I still hold a small glimmer of (unrealistic) hope that Ruby Red will be resurrected by being offered as a GS color for '09.

It's just you.

Honestly, if you can't tell the difference between the three, you need to sit down with them a little more.

Kick-in-the-butt to anyone that mistakes my IS for an ES...

I've never had problems telling apart any of the current Lexus sedan models with just a quick glance in broad daylight

As for the Ruby Red, I think they should have done it the other way around, cancel the Matador Red for the GS & make the Ruby Red available for the GS and the ES.
I LOVE the matador red BTW, it's one of my favorite Lexus paint, but it's better for the IS model. Looks good on the GS too, but I think the Ruby Red is even more suitable for the GS

However, I think they just want one Red paint, the Matador Red for all 3 models, IS,ES & GS to make things simple for them.

Lol, so its not just me. It hard to tell the diff. in the IS, GS and the ES with a quick glance, even in broad daylight or if the car is too far away. For some people like my wife, who is not really into cars. We could be stop behind a IS or a ES in traffic and she would still think it was a GS. I always get upset when she does that, I have to tell loudly her over and over again, its not a GS, its not a GS. Sometimes I think she does it on purpose to **** me off

I agree. Matador Red is a great color, but it is too loud for the GS. I drove this loaded 08 GS460 around for a week and unlike my Starfire Pearl GS, I felt like a target driving fast on the freeway!

Nah....Matador Red(until they come up with a better red) is the ONLY color I will buy a GS in.
