But the TL will handle much better than the Genesis.

I just got back from driving a Genesis and I'm really impressed! The car was a V6 (no v8s available yet) with most everything except NAV. Sticker is $36,000 even. This is a big car inside, at least as roomy as an M35. Ride is similar to GS350 but it handles much better, nearly as good as an M35. The seats are covered in a nice perforated leather and feel great. The car only had about 150 miles on it, so I did not push it very hard, but slow speed acceleration (up to about 50) is a bit faster than either the GS350 or M35.

Some things I did not like such as the fake wood trim and the wheels, but overall for the price it is really nice. Kind of like LS460 room, GS350 performance, at ES350 price.

I think Hyundai hit the target pretty well with this car, but unfortunately, the target has moved since the Genesis was designed and sales of larger cars are dead due to gas prices. Resale price is still unknown, but is likely to eat up a good percentage of the difference in price if the car is traded early.

If I were in the market today, would I buy a Genesis over an M35, GS350, or E350. Probably, depending on what the "out the door" prices on the cars were. The local dealer has a $3000 market adjustment on the sticker which would kill the deal for me.

Handles good?
Most reviews say that's the car weakest point along with cheapo interior trim.
A $36K sticker for a V6 Hyundai without NAV.
You've got to be kiddin'
If really interested..wait about 6 months and they'll be a huge rebate and it will have nothing to do with gas prices.
Hyundai's do not hold their value.I believe this model will follow suit.
I really don't think the general public will buy a $35K V6 or $42K V8 for a Hyundai.
A $3000 market adjustment on the sticker?
A buyer would have to be nuts to buy one at sticker, let alone $3K over.

Not really.
Lexus is Toyota.
In '89 Toyota's had quality higher end cars than Hyundai.
Hyundai is and will always be Hyundai.
A $35k-$40K Hyundai will be a tough sale.
Very few people looking into buying a Lexus,Infinity,BMW,Audi even a Caddy CTS will not even take a look at the $40K Genesis.
I'd buy a Caddy CTS before a Genesis in a heartbeat.
Buy a Genesis now and if sales lag,you will lose a fortune in resale.

Funny you mention the new cts.. just went to look at one the other day... sticker price 58k and some change.. I thought that was ridiculous. 3.7liter direct inject putting out 304hp. I like the new cts but maybe on the performance side id pick the cts of the genesis but for 58k? thats ABSURD. Id rather buy a GS!

You're talking about the CTS-V.
A nicely equipped AWD 304HP Direct injection CTS can be bought for $41K.
For $58K,I'm buying a loaded GS460.

Really don't underestimate the Genesis and what Hyundai is doing. Again they have things Acura and Infiniti do not have!! Do not judge this car based on the badge, it was built to compete with luxury cars.

Reviews have been positive for this car. There will be shortcomings, it is Hyundai's first effort here.

TL vs Genesis. I would get the Genesis. RWD and it actually looks good, the TL will have more gadgets but looks disgusting and it has FWD unless you get the SH-AWD TL, which is still FWD biased.

My bad.
The 3.6L 263HP AWD.
Still works for me over a Genesis.

That just what Edmunds says is a con.
Will people spend around $40K for a Hyundai?
I don't think they will.
Hey,I can be wrong and it won't be the first or last time.
Maybe in a few years and higher end Hyundai name plate like Toyota,Honda and Infinity.

Wow.. to each his own I guess. Surely you can agree on this.. that 58k and some change sticker price is ridiculously absurd for that cts, and since the Genesis is so crappy in your standards the CTS must be worth every penny.?
