There is a difference between safety glass, which is a laminated tempered glass which all car have and acoustic glass which use a different inter-layer to further block out sound.

I think you have the terms mixed up. Tempered glass is used for the sides and back glass. Laminated glass (sandwiched film) is for the windshield only.

Lexus' made in Japan source their glass through Asahi - AGC Automotive.

You can ask for factory Lexus glass, but chances are your insurance company will pay for aftermarket OEM spec glass.

That's why I brought it up to begin with... aftermarket OEM spec glass would be different and for at least some of us it would make a difference.. I noticed a big improvement in audio quality and cabin noise reduction after driving the
'07 and '08 cars as opposed to previous models.. Just my contribution to the thread and to ensure people have the best info to make their own decision..

Yes always use acoustic windshields if your insurance lets you.

most car manufactures use ppg glass and most aftermarket companys get the glass from the same place with out the lexus honda nissan logo on it...
