Default 30k tranny service not needed until 100k?

Service advisor tells me today I need 30k service, I look at what it includes and the only thing I needed out of the package was a brake flush and tranny service.. so I told him to perform those 2... he calls me 4 hours later and states that the 06 300's dont need tranny service until 100k now with the way they are built.. now every car I have had I have always changed the tranny fluid @ 30k... anyone else heard this about not changing the tranny fluid until 100k?

The new cars have sealed transmissions. No dipsticks to check fluid. What Lexus uses is called WS fluid. You don't need service for 100k.

to each his own. i'm just as skeptical of a regular lube shop as i am a dealer. teki99, while it would have been better if the advisor had known about the 100K straight up, the fact that you approved the work and he called you back later and said you didn't need it after all isn't all bad. and no tranny service for 100K? more good news.

Lexus and Toyota switch to the WS trans fluid I think about 3 or 4 years ago. They are suppose to be good for 100K just like the spark plugs. A lot of people from the old school still change them out and inspect the plugs at around 50K to 60K miles.

Hi, I'm a new owner of 2007 gs350. I've learned lots of good stuff from this forum.
I could not find in maintenance manual that you need to replace transmission oil even at 100K.

page 71 of maintenance Manual

Transfer Case/Transmission

Inspect each transfer case/transmission
component for signs of leakage.
If you discover any leakage, have it
repaired immediately by a qualified
technician.

Note: The transfer case/transmission
and transmission fluid are a completely
sealed unit. Therefore, periodic
checks and replacement of the transmission
fluid are not required, and
there is no dipstick on the transmission.
Any repairs that require adding
or replacing fluid should be performed
by a qualified technician following
procedures in Lexus service
and repair publications.

I see transmission fluid replacement is listed on the 100K service package offered by my dealership. I do not know if that interval is Lexus or simply dealer recommended.

My recommendation would be, if you're going to drive the car until 100k then change it once at 50k. I guess I'm a little cautious because I had fix a transmission on my 04 Accord at 95k, but then again, Accords are notorious for bad transmissions. Some of us will have either returned the car or sold it by 100k, if so, don't bother with the transmission, it's not your problem, you're just following the directions in the manual.
