I brought my GS300 in for Check VSC warning light. After 3 days, the car was returned to me and I was told by Wilkes Lexus that my gas cap was not closed properly and they had tighten it and reset the warning light. I was charged $57 dollars for the diagnostic and reset. The very next day, the Check VSC came back on again. I wished I had seen this tread earlier. I went out bought an $8 dollar gas cap, disconnect the warning battery to reset the warning light. Now, the Check VSC does not come on and my milage has improved by 2 MPG. I wished Wilkes dealer (like other Lexus dealers) could have told me just change the gas cap if this was such common problem (and not charge me $57 for nothing)

Lol..... They SHOULD HAVE changed the gas cap with the car. Lexus of Orlando did the same for me. They seem to waive the diagnostics fee for me everytime, only charging for parts and labor.

Reading about you guys' symptoms, I think i'm blessed to have this dealership take care of me, especially for all these diagnostics fees.

My VSC light came on this morning. It's under the Certified Warranty and I have an appointment tomorrow morning. I'll keep ya posted.

Default check VSC Warning Reply

I have a 2008 LS460 and in the past 2 months, I've seen the Check VSC system message appear on occasion. I took it to two different mechanics. The first one helped me with a new battery. A few weeks after I initially received the VSC message, my battery died. I believe that the VSC system could have been related to the battery. If you are having issues, I would start here and take it to the mechanic and have them test the battery life.

However, after I replaced the battery, within a week, the dreaded VSC system message appeared again. I had a different mechanic look at it, and they said the code readings are fine, but they did find that the clamp around the induction hose was loose. Since the VSC reads mass air flow, the loose clamp could have triggered the sensor and caused the VSC message. The fix: they tightened the clamp, changed the filter, and said all looked good. Total cost for all this was $150.00.

I'll send an update if that didn't resolve the VSC message, but I think that this tightening of the clamp should take care of it.
