sounds like you're doing city style driving.

low mileage is expected.

try this....... take it up to 65mph in the 30mph zone, and watch out for cops.

that should improve the mileage.

I have about 8,000 miles on my GS350 and I have been getting 22.5 to 23.5 on almost all tanks. I love filling up and then getting on the freeway immediately to see it average in the 30's, but that all comes to an end soon enough.
I am trying something to get better mileage though. I put the ECT SNOW on everytime I drive it this tank. I am driving a little more careful and I am averaging 25.8 so far with only about 10 miles on the freeway. My roads around here are about 50MPH and long stretches without lights. But, still there is a difference. The SNOW button just helps counteract our bad driving style. It sure is different in that mode. I am glad I have 3 different ways of driving this car.

Good luck on better mileage!

AGREE!!!

During the break-in period, I got average of 18-20MPG. Now, my GS350 has over 8,000 miles on it. 90 percent of my driving is in the city, still my over all average is over 23MPG.

So, don't worry about it, your MPG will go up once your toy is properly break-in!!!

Like my original post stated, your car, like ANY new vehicle is going to go through a break-in period where you may expect lower than normal gas mileage. Check your owners manual for more information on the break-in period.

Secondly, you stated that you almost never exceed 30MPH. This is just as fuel efficient as running at 90MPH believe it or not. The most fuel efficient range for these cars is 55-65MPH. Anything below that and you aren't going to be in a cruising gear which means higher RPMS and burning more gas.

Sounds like your commute is the problem.

Ok, if thats how he really drives then I can see low gas milage. But can you give any good reason why I hit under 20mpg? No speeding, Hawaii speed limit is 55mph. If I was going ONLY to town which is 20mi one way, I might be able to get it at 20-21mpg. But everything else is shroter distance which is under 10miles one way. I'll get 17-18mpg.

yeah a commute at 30mph isn't gonna get you good mileage. our GS is rated 18/24 and my husband drives 7 miles to work with about 20 stoplights in that span. he gets 16-17 usually. but if we drive to LA for a trip or something, it can easily do 25-26, so it's not the car, it's the commute. those figures are just approximations, and unfortunately your commute doesn't fall into the "average" category.

but like someone said above, no car you buy will reach the sticker mileage if that is your daily commute, so you shouldn't feel bad!

I thought it was me. I have a 4 mile city commute to work. I've gotten 17-19 MPH.

When I'm on the highway I get 25 MPH or so.

it's not the break-in period really.
i've 24-25 mpg even during break in, consistently.

now, the infiniti is a different story. their engine history shows slightly improved mileage after break-in.

if the 2GR got improved mileage after break-in, i'd be excited. 29 mpg combined would be noice. but no dice.

If you are using the power switch (button) set in power mode you will have a lower MPG.

FWIW, after 600 miles on my GS350, I'm getting 13.5 MPG (calculated the old fashion way - not through the car's computer). Since 80% of my driving is stop and go with the average trip being 3 miles, I'll be satisfied if I can get to 16 MPG (city) after a few more fill-ups.

In a couple weeks I'll be driving L.A.---> Las Vegas ---> L.A. It will be interesting to see what the MPG will be as I'll have about 900 miles on the car before the trip begins.

I took my GS350 AWD on a Road trip for 350 miles. I got 30.3 MPG with the Cruise set at 74 mph, A/C on, temp outside was 90 degrees. Just basically a flat freeway.
