Default Spare Tire

So it has been brought to my attention by somebody that works at lexus service dept. that not all gs 350 comes w/ a spare tire. And of course mine doesn't when I checked. I thought all cars were supposed to come with a spare. Anybody else missing one?

Does your GS have runflat tires on it?

You must have run-flat tires. There are two run-flat packages: one with the spare, and one without it. My GS has the former; yours obviously has the latter. I really needed the spare since I immediately replaced my run-flats with regular tires. If you have done the same or are planning to do so, you can purchase a spare kit for about $400-500 from your dealer installed.

yeah, just found out from the dealer that the runflats doesn't come with the spare. i'm disappointed in not having a spare, but makes sense if you have runflats. is you're spare a full size rim or a doughnut?

The spare is a doughnut, and - quoting another member here - it is the ugliest spare tire you will ever see in your life. The rim is a mustard-yellow color...

But, it does the job!

BTW, I have runflats, and the car came with the spare.

I was surprised when I was told a spare wasn't included with my car. Another dealer had the exact same car with one. When I picked up my car, the dealer gave me the spare from another GS. I mean, what if a tire blows when I'm on the highway? Then it's flatbed city. Incidentally, I find it a much nicer ride now that I've taken the runflats off the car.

Hmmm ... I better check to see if I have a spare or doughnut. My GS orig. came with runflats which I traded in for the G-Spiders and Michelin tires. Would the spare or doughnut be listed on the sticker ?

Yes. Look at your run-flat package description. It would either say "Run-flat tires with spare" or "Run-flat tires without spare." I was lucky that mine was the former.

I call Lexus Roadside Assistance. But they don't bring a replacement tire with them.

I checked the sticker and it said nothing about a spare ... only 17" Alloys w/225/50R17 V-Rated Run Flat Tires.

I went out this morning and ripped open the trunk and under the trunk mat found some tools and what looks like a full size Bridgestone spare tire. Says on it for Temporary Use Only.
