Need help w/ ML DVD/NAV hack
Okay, first off, I've already done this hack/mod successfully in my '06 IS350 w/ ML. The procedures for the IS350 are very similar to the ones for the '07 GS350 found here by VVT-i, SonarTech, and 2thfixr (thanks to all of them). So I just got my '07 GS350 last weekend, and today opened up everything to do this mod using the instructions found here. I think I must have missed out on some previous posts which included pictures (I think the posts were removed due to legal concerns?). Using what (relatively) few instructions that are left, I can see that the K46 pin wires are identical to the IS350. The difference is in the h1 pin VSS wire; it is PINK (pin #13) in the '06 IS350, and according the instructions here, it is WHITE-BLACK or WHITE-GRAY (pin #16) for the '07 GS350. My problem is this:
1) I don't see a W-B pin 16 on h1 in my car; moreover, there are TWO W-B wires, which as I found out, are actually ONE same wire.
I've tried all possible methods of counting the pins, but cannot get a W-B wire on pin 16. h1 is a 28-pin connector with the following 14 wires:
(Looking from behind the connector as it goes into the display unit, and starting from LEFT to RIGHT. Pin numbering is arbitrarily done by me.)
TOP:
1: WHITE, 2: BLACK, 3: WHITE-BLACK, 4: DARK GREEN, 5: RED, 6: ORANGE, 7-9 are empty, 10: WHITE-BLACK, 11-12 are empty, 13: BLUE, 14: LIGHT GREEN
BOTTOM:
15: PURPLE, 16: RED, 17-19 are empty, 20: PALE GREEN (OR LIME), 21: YELLOW, 22: BROWN, 23-28 are empty
As I mentioned earlier, the two W-B wires are actually one single wire; I found this out by pulling on one to get some slack and it actually came out of the wireloom, revealing that the two are one and the same. When I tried this hack, I cut the W-B on pin #3 (my numbering system from above) and connected it to the PURPLE wire (pin #14 wireloom side) from K46 (I tried a straight connection and also tried with a switch in between). This didn't do anything as far as enabling the grayed-out options while the car is moving. I was going to try cutting "the other" W-B wire before finding out that it's the same wire. So basically, unless my car is some weird or newer version of a '07 GS350, something is wrong as far as the wiring scheme goes. Again, I didn't/don't have the benefit of seeing the pictures from the others who posted, so I can't compare my h1 wiring to others'. For now, I reconnected the W-B wire (to itself as it turns out) and left the PURPLE wire (pin 14) from K46 disconnected (cut). The yellow parking brake wire on K46 for the DVD hack is cut and grounded and so the DVD hack works fine (I can watch DVD while the car is moving). Leaving the W-B wire on h1 cut/disconnected had no effects that I can see or tell.
So...to sum it up...which wire on h1 is the correct VSS (or SPD/speed) wire? Do you guys have TWO W-B wires on your h1 harness like I do, and are they one and the same wire as mine? Thanks in advance for any info and help.

Wow. Talk about a picture being worth a thousand words. A thousand thanks to you for that picture. Yup, I was working w/ the wrong connector. I thought it was similar to the IS350 but it isn't...it's totally different. I went w/ the connector that looked like the IS350's since I had no pictures.
I will go try this again and post an update later; it should work. By the way, my fiance is also a "2thfixr" and she will be driving the GS (I like the IS better :/)...she also says thanks for the info...from one tooth fixer to another.

By the way, Robert.
Are those pics from the Toyota's techinfo site? If they are, I would've/should've gotten a subscription to save some major time and trouble.

Well I started the process, went to the store to get the shrink tubing, and Single switch. BUT, when I got back to my car, I forgot I can't put the on/off switch where you all did, b/c I have the sport/comfort button.
any suggestions....
what would happen if I didn't do the switch?
Instead of actually having a switch to turn off/on/off .......
since I still have the 5.1, could I just do the screen button hack, and would this do the exact thing as the button, just not as easy or fast?
would this cause any problems?
OK, all I care about is being able to watch DVD in motion.........
but with that being said, I want everything to work perfectly at the same time... no chpoppyness with anything.. So, I know I might need to change more than just the DVD to keep the "everything working ok".
What do I need to do?
1. DVD hack
2. Bluetooth Dial
3. Nav hack.

Is the software that turns off certain function at 5 mph, on the Navigation disk or on chip? Rather than hacking the wires it would be nice to just hack the software…change 5 mph to 500 mph.

So I called lexus b/c I was going to order one of their own single throw switches.... the same ones as the sport/comfort switch.....
\BUT they are 92 dollars....
now granted it would look absolutly perfect b/c it would be the same exact looking switch as the others, but no way I can bring myself to pay 92 dollars for a switch........
and if I wanted the single throw swith the same as the trac button on/off, thats 95 dollars.
dang it.
Robert let me know on the time.... 10 minutes would be appreciated.
