Default Cheapest place to get oil filter for GS300/350/430?

For those that have changed their own oil, where is the cheapest place to get oil filters? Are there significant differences between oil filter brands (OEQ, K&N, Toyota)? Is an oil filter wrench necessary to remove the cannister or can I just get it off with my hands?

I was with an associate of mine and he did it himself, without a wrench. It was easier to get his hands in there he said.
Now about where to get one, I am not sure. I would just buy the one from the dealership... no?
Maybe the aftermarket ones they have at checker the Fram high performance ones are good... I don't know.
I would make sure it was rated for a higher performance car though.. whichever you purchase.
the same with all your filters, K&N for air, and so on...

Thanks, Jace. I found some OEM oil filters at Iron Toad for $4.33 a piece. I will probably purchase it there.

http://www.trdparts4u.com The GS430 filter is different than the GS300 and GS350. The 300 is a Cartridge.
Anyway, Toyota of Dallas has the best prices for the GS430 filter and has free shipping.

Isn't the oil filter kit number for the:

GS300 AWD - 04152-YZZA2
GS300 RWD - 04152-YZZA3

???

The one that's listed on http://www.trdparts4u.com is 04152-YZZA1. Any ideas?

This does not surprise me a bit. Toyota is about as bad as it gets with listing their part numbers and they change them as well. I mean all of them including Lexus. If you call Lexus three times, you will get three different answers. Your best bet is to call Toytota of Dallas at Toyota of Dallas • 1-866-233-4305 and give them your VIN. The VIN number is the best assurance you get the right filter . Let us know what they say.

So I ended up ordering the oil filter kits at Sewell Lexus (http://www.lexus-parts.com) and used the promo code "CL911M" for 10% off. It ended up being cheaper than Iron Toad. The oil filter kit number at Sewell is 04152-YZZA2.

Sewell Lexus is the next best place . Down the road from each other here in Dallas. Did you use your VIN for the part number? I'm sure Toytoa of Dallas has the part as well.

Tammy is pretty good about this stuff, but it does not hurt to double check. I had the service manager at Lexus trying to convince me the GS430 took a Cartridge filter and not a regular oil filter

There are two different OEM filters for the GS430 that I have come across, but one is older and more expensive. Some say it is a much better filter too. The filter material looks better, but I suppose that does not necessarily make it a better filter. I’ve been told the more expensive one is the one that comes with the car from the factory, however I did not see the filter that came on the car.

BTW, how did you get the promo number?

Pretty much all the sites I googled had the same part number I ordered so I figured it was the correct one. But you're right, it doesn't hurt to double check. I'm just lazy, that's all.

The promo code is on several threads on this forum.
