Unhappy Paint peeling on front bumper; Anyone else?

I have a white 2006 GS430, sorry can't remember the name of the color. I had an area on the front bumper that is about 1.5" in diam where the clearcoat peeled off. I took it to my dealer to be repainted under warranty and was wondering if anyone else had similiar issues.

Thanks,

bd

Do you know if it has been repaired or repainted? Can't recall seeing factory paint doing that.

Normally you will get hairline cracking if it is bumped and deformed temporaily. The bumped area may return to its original shape however the paint is already stressed. Later on after mother nature take care of it a bit it may start to peel of the cracks may become very noticeable. I would venture to say that they vehicle was bumped, possibly with out you knowing it (park on the street or a lot somewhere) and it is showing up now.

Replying with PDA so i'm not sure how this is going to work.

The bumper had no previous damage or repaint. On of the paint guys that I spoke to said it was common with this color and only one rhe bumper. I can't find any confirmation of this. The area looked like as if the paint was torn, you could flake it off with your finger nail.

hmmm Well obviously a body guy has seen more cars than me so I would say he is prob. right. Only other posibility I could come up with.. is that due to the color, and its chemical make-up, when the bumper is exposed to heat or cold the bumper is expanding or contracting at a greater rate than the paint is and it is causing the paint to flake out.

Otherwise I cant give you a reason for it.. it just is
