Questons on GS350/450 and 400h
The dealer is trying to get me to look at the GS models instead of the IS if I want reverse camera as the GS can be bought without navigation (Hawaii doesn't get the navigation option) so I have some questions
1) Besides being bigger, is it worth moving from a IS to a GS 350? I mean its about $9,000 higher. Just talking about base price difference.
2) Why would someone want the GS450 over the GS350. GS350 gets better gas milage, and gets the same 0-60 as the v8? Even 1/4mi times are the same.
3) I like the idea of saving gas when can. I saw the 450h and loved the inside. BUT the price tag was $60,000+ Is that really what it goes for?

First off the comparision was with the new GS350 (07) and the older GS430. Those are about the same. The new GS 460 will be MUCH better than the 350, closer in comparision to the 450h. I have the GS450h, and the base price tag on mine was 65,000 without any taxes, handling charges, sirus, 3M or anything. By the time I was done, mine was 70K.
the IS has paddle shifters, kinda neat. yes I just did say neat. smaller sportier.
The GS is more luxurious closer to the LS.
IS = sport
GS = nice mixture of both sport, with alot or LUX features.
LS = boat, but luxurious.
THis help at all?

How much did youpay for your 450h? What kind of gas milage are you getting. Also (sorry, lots of questions) I noticed this hybrid seems backwards on teh city/hwy thing. it says 25/28. Most hybrids are better in city becuase of mor electric motor?

Base price for my GS450h, which I bought in CO, which came with every option the factory could install was $65,000.
Then before I purchased, I had them 3M, hardwire my V1, taxes, and dealer fees, I paid 70K after all was said and done.
I average about 21 in city, that's mostly fast starts. But when I drive conservatively, I get the advertised, 25/28. Sometimes 29.... rare, but occasionally.
But you have the power of a V8 and the torque of the BMW 550, 380hp, with a V6, and the gas milege of better than the v6 350.
My reason for buying wasn't how many miles I will actually get, it was just fascinating to me. Super quite ride, no noise at all, gas milege of better than a V6, with the power of a V8.
Plus, instant torqe, no shifting. wow.
I don't think I will even get the 460 when it comes out.
Unless they make a 460h, then I would get that.

OK, so is it worth going from the IS to a gs? The GS is same size as my Maxima, but turn radious is bigger and I thought my maxima was large. Its a foot wider. At least the IS is 3ft shorter.

The IS is NOT 3 feet shorter, a foot shorter at the most.
I think if you have a Maxima, the GS size would be more comfortable for you.

to IS and GS are two completely different cars. What are you looking for in a car. Personally the IS is to small for me even if I liked the smaller sporty ride. I would only go for the GS personally, but again my GS was about 70K, the IS isn't even close to that.

my wife wanted a smaller car (my maxima is 190in) so I'm guessing that means smaller than that. The GS is the same size but has a turn radious about a foot larger than the Max, so she might not like that. Although I like the GS looks more than the IS.
