Tire recomendations
I'm in need of new tires. I have 18' G-spiders on my 06 GS300. Looking for some 245/40 18" tires. Not looking to go with run flats again. I do a lot of driving so I'm looking to get around 25K miles on the new set. Any recomendations?

You didn't state whether you are more for performance or crusing. Suggest Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 if you are looking for performance. May not last 25K though. Excellent wet/dry tractions, very quiet and very comfortable ride. Stay away from Bridgestone SO-3 (very noisy - previous set).

I just got the M+S installed last week. They ride a tiny bit harsher than the OEM Advans, but overall, they are a very good tire. And it's hard to beat the price..$156 a tire from Tire Rack.

Personally, I like the feel of the Toyo Proxes. but those run high about $200-$250 a piece (depending where you go and who you know). My father had those put on his GS430 and its quiet and very smooth.

we put Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on ours, and the ride is much better. the Advans were total crap.
the Michelin's aren't cheap though - about $275 i think, but they are available at Costco (they also have sales twice a year on Michelins), which means you can get road hazard warranty and balances whenever you need them.

This may be of some help. I have, also, been looking for tires for my 18' G-spiders and came across these: tire ($190 each). According to Passenger Tire Surveys submitted to Tire Rack, this tire was rated higher than the Pilot PS2 according to consumers.. See this website: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...ay.jsp?type=MP ,and this for a comparision between the RE050A and PS2: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...lay.jsp?ttid=1 . Do not confuse this with the Potenza RE050A. This is the "Pole Position w/ UNI-T". This is a "Max Performance Summer" tire. If you need an all season tire then look here: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey....jsp?type=HPAS .
Good luck on your quest for a tire to suit your needs.

I am getting the 18" G-Spiders on my GS350 in a couple weeks and I want to replace the Advans immediately after delivery, or if I get lucky, have the dealer do it for me so I drive off w/ what I want.
I am leaning towards the widest, quietest tire with good rain traction. I don't really need to corner on a dime w/ this car, so ultra high performance is not a big factor for me.
Sounds like the group here recommends Michelin Pilot Sport, Bridgestones, or Pirelli PZ Nero. I'd like to hear more comments if anyone cares to share... thanks.

the PZeros seem like a good deal for the price. It's cheaper than some of the other wheels available in the same class. I'm not too sure on how long the tire will last though. I talked to a buddy of mine and he said around 15k ? That's pretty scary stuff considering my SUV tires last around 60k miles, but they are two different types of tires and cars.

I really like my Bridgestone Turanza EL42 run-flats. I know that you don't like run-flats but these tires on my 18" ride nearly as smooth as my 98 GS400 did on its 16" wheels. Also I got 38K on my first set and my second set is wearing very well.
