SGT - Are you saying that 18" rims/tires will perform well enough (perhaps not as good as 17s) in all weather conditions (i.e., some ice and snow) and still ride smooth and quiet in summer? I'm from Kansas City and getting ready to take delivery of an AWD GS350 that will have stock 17s on it. I've found a seller of stock 18's from the GS430 and and would seriously consider swapping the rims and tires from the 17s to the 18s if I thought I could live year round with the 18s on and a good performing all season 18. Looks like you're from NY, so if it works for you its gotta be okay for me, right?

You're absolutely correct. I've had these tires for about a year now, and they've seen rain, snow, sleet, etc. and have been exceptional in all areas. Of course, in deep snow (anything over 4") you'll have to take it easy, but then again these are NOT winter tires. They perform extremely well in all conditions (including summer driving) being all-season tires and are still very quiet and comfortable. You should have no problems should you decide to get them.

I spoke to the dealer, and when the car comes in next week and they put the g-spiders on, they'll use Michelin Pilot Sport AS shoes. I have Pilots on my SLK, and they seem OK, but it's hard to tell on a roadster... roadsters just ride so "connected to the pavement" all the time you cannot tell if they would be more smooth on a car like the GS or not... still, should be a very decent tire to crank out the first 20,000 or so on...
