Default blurry cutoff line

has anyone tried putting a clear lens on your projector, so that you can achieve a sharp cutoff line and maybe a even better output?

i cant stand how blurry ours is

It might be easier to have your eyeglass prescription changed.

Bringing this thread from the dead. Color modding the projector is pretty easy. The reason behind the blurry cutoff is the fresnel lens. Iam assuming that the projector is the same as the RX330 cause I havent seen the GS projector yet and if so, it can be modded easily to get this result

from about 25'

^^ Get a spare and just work on that. The best and the safest way to go, after you are done with the spare, sell the original ones

i'm reviving this thread again lol...

just got my GS350 and just installed my Garax 8000K D4sS bulbs and realized the blurry cutoff too... Before I jump on ebay for oem projector lens, anyone have a clue as to what size the projector lens are? I used to have a 2001 A4 with ecode headlights (very awesome output and cutoff i must add) and I am definitely going to attempt this swap. I much rather order the lens first, then start the project rather than take the headlight apart to measure and do twice the work by putting it back together to wait for the part...

most likely the projector is a 2.5", but even amongst projectors of comparable size, lens will not fit the same. For example, a TSX lens is much too small to properly fit in my SC430 projector, and requires special spacers to evenly center. A bmw e30 lens fits perfectly.

As for buying "oem projector lens", i'm not sure what you mean by that. I don't believe there is an OEM clear lens for that vehicle, or most vehicles for that matter. You could either get a different car's clear lens that fits (E30 maybe, TSX, ZKW, etc) or attempt to clear the stock lenses yourself using clearcoat (Someone did this over at HIDPlanet. You can do a search).

Good luck

I should also add that blurry cutoffs are easier on the eyes, since there isn't as sharp of a contrast, and therefore preferred by most OEM manufacturers

lol cool. I meant oem as in lens found originally in other make's original headlights. so 2.5". I wonder if my old A4 projector lens will fit. Well i'm going to study my headlights first (only had the gs350 for about 2 weeks ). I still have a set of valeo a4 ecode projector laying around, so I'll remove the lens and study that too.

I'll try the clear coat thing as last resort I suppose. I have can of acrylic clear coat from painting the side skirts on my A4. That should work out ok I hope. Thanks for the reply and input ell y!

Something to think about. While I was in San Antonio last weekend I was behind a GS430 (07-08) that had a great cut-off line. Mine is burry also and I thought that was how they all were until I saw this GS.... I'm confused now.

Are you sure about this? I saw another GS460 last night and it's headlight output looked much more like a RX350 or a IS350 cutoff than my GS430 does.

Are you sure they didn't change the headlight from 07-09?

^^ i would assume so.

when i dropped my car off at the dealer for recalls, i had a IS250 and i notice the cut off line was so much smoother than my GS

It's really amazing how blurry my cut off is. So much so, that I would have assumed Lexus wouldn't have allowed this. IX187, can you take a picture of your cut off line tonight from about 50ft away? I'd like to see what yours looks like.

perhaps someone with a 08 or 09 model can do the same.

Thanks!
